The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 101.11 points, down 0.13 points compared to the transaction on September 16, 2024.

The dollar hit its lowest level in more than a year against the yen on Tuesday, as expectations grew that the Federal Reserve could cut interest rates aggressively later this week.
The Fed is expected to announce a rate cut of at least 25 basis points when it concludes its September policy meeting on Wednesday.
But reports in the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times last week have fueled speculation among traders that the central bank could cut rates by a further 50 basis points.
Futures markets are pricing in a 61% chance of a 50 basis point cut, up from around 15% last week.
“ There’s really only one story today and that’s a continuation of what we saw last week: after CPI, the market was comfortable with a 25 basis point rate hike but many suspect the Fed has cooked up a story to bring back a 50 basis point hike,” said Marc Chandler, chief market strategist at Bannockburn Global Forex in New York .
“ The markets have responded accordingly. And in fact, they are still adjusting .”
The dollar traded as low as 139.58 yen during Asian hours, its lowest since July 2023. The dollar was last down 0.10% at 140.690 yen.
The dollar index, which measures the value of the currency against six others including the euro, yen and pound, fell 0.29% to 100.73.
“ I think part of the price action may have been exaggerated due to the fact that China, Japan and South Korea are on holiday today ,” Chandler added.
US Treasury yields have fallen ahead of the highly anticipated Fed meeting, especially as the likelihood of a half-point rate cut is rising.
The benchmark 10-year yield fell 30 basis points in about two weeks. The two-year yield, which is more closely tied to monetary policy expectations, fell 2.5 basis points to 3.5509%, down from about 3.94% two weeks ago.
Investors are also eyeing the Bank of Japan's interest rate decision on Friday, when the bank is expected to keep its short-term policy rate target unchanged at 0.25% after raising rates twice this year.
BOJ board members have indicated that they want to see higher interest rates and a narrowing gap between Japanese and other major currencies has boosted the yen and caused billions of dollars worth of yen-financed carry trades to be canceled.
