The roundabout, constructed at a total cost of nearly 20 billion VND, will replace the seven-way intersection where five traffic lights were previously installed, posing a constant risk to traffic safety.
At the seven-way intersection in Tan Phu Dong commune, Sa Dec city ( Dong Thap province), workers and various pieces of equipment and machinery are operating continuously.
Mr. Ha Van Luong, Deputy Director of Investment and Construction Equipment Company No. 1 (the contractor), said: "Currently, on the construction site, the contractor has assigned workers to perform tasks related to curb construction, foundation work, concrete pouring, and sidewalk paving."
The contractor is urgently working on the seven-way intersection in Sa Dec city (Dong Thap province).
To date, the project has reached 80% completion. The contractor is carrying out the work, which includes laying crushed stone for the road surface and paving the first layer with hot mix asphalt (C19 type, 7cm thick) and the second layer with hot mix asphalt (C9.5 type, 5cm thick).
In addition, the contractor also constructed the drainage system, built sidewalks, installed central island lighting, and completed the public lighting system.
The project commenced in early September 2023 and is expected to be completed and put into operation by December 31, 2024, as planned.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy Sy, Deputy Director of the Project Management and Land Development Board of Sa Dec City (Dong Thap province), said: "The seven-way intersection project at the junction of National Highway 80 - Provincial Road 853 - Hung Vuong Street and Le Hong Phong Street is invested in by our unit."
The project has a total investment of nearly 20 billion VND. After completion and commissioning, the project will contribute to the development of urban infrastructure, serve the transportation needs of the people, and create a foundation for the socio -economic development of the locality."
The construction contractor prioritizes traffic safety.
In addition, this intersection will help the local authorities strengthen traffic safety measures in the area. At the same time, the project will contribute to improving the aesthetics of the gateway to the central area of Sa Dec city.
Previously, five traffic lights were installed at this seven-way intersection. However, during peak hours or power outages, the traffic lights were ineffective, leading to traffic congestion, chaos, and safety issues in the area.
In addition, running red lights is a frequent and dangerous occurrence, often resulting in traffic accidents.
The seven-way intersection was built on National Highway 80, so the contractor had to seek and obtain approval from the relevant authorities before proceeding. In addition, the volume of traffic on this highway is very high, so ensuring traffic safety during construction was always a top priority.
When the project is completed, the old traffic lights will be dismantled.
"Recently, due to the heavy rainfall, the investor has instructed the contractor to fill in potholes and large depressions with crushed stone at the construction site to ensure convenient and smooth traffic for residents," Mr. Sy said.
