(NLDO) - In addition to training human resources, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is also a cradle for nurturing leadership talents.


On the afternoon of November 29, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM) held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Faculty of Oriental Studies (1994-2024).

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Principal of the school, said that up to now, the school has trained more than 6,000 bachelors and masters, many alumni have held important positions in diplomatic organizations. Currently, the faculty trains 6 subjects including: Arabic Studies, Indian Studies, Indonesian Studies, Thai Studies, Chinese Studies, and Australian Studies.

The 30th anniversary celebration of the establishment and development of the Faculty of Oriental Studies is an opportunity for students to interact with many international friends and lecturers.

"During the development process, the Faculty of Oriental Studies has made very important contributions in promoting relations with many countries, especially those countries where the Faculty has training programs. In addition to the efforts of students and lecturers, the support of friends and partners plays a very important role in training quality and effective human resources" - Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan assessed.

During the ceremony, the school principal expressed his deep gratitude to the lecturers who were the previous leaders of the department – ​​those who laid a solid foundation for the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan sent her thanks to the Consulates who have supported the school over the past time.

Huynh Gia Bao Ngoc (born in 2002) said that he has "fallen in love" with Arabic Studies for 5 years. During his time at school, he had the opportunity to study in Egypt for 1 year.

"At first, I was worried that it would be difficult to find a job after studying this major. After having the opportunity to study and meet many international friends, I feel much more confident. As long as I have good skills and work style, I believe I will find a suitable job" - Bao Ngoc confidently said.

Hong Thanh, who is studying Thai Studies, said that on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the faculty's founding, a group of friends organized a cultural booth, including the experience of folding Tung Sai Moo (a type of lantern) to pray for luck and peace.

On this occasion, the Faculty of Oriental Studies organized an international conference "Oriental Studies: training and research issues in the current context of integration" to review the achievements and limitations in Oriental studies training and research at the school. From there, propose orientations and approaches in Oriental studies training and research in the coming time.
