Chemical supplies decreased sharply
As an industrial province, Dong Nai always puts green agriculture, smart farmers, and modern countryside in a strategic position in development.

Dong Nai is orienting the development of green agriculture through many solutions and policies focusing on environmental protection and sustainable development. To achieve this goal, Dong Nai focuses on applying organic agricultural production processes, minimizing the use of chemicals and chemical fertilizers, and encouraging farmers to use biological measures to improve soil quality and manage pests.
In addition, the province is promoting the conversion of agricultural production to meet standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic... to improve the quality of agricultural products, creating stable output in domestic and international markets. Dong Nai also supports farmers through training programs, technical assistance and connections with export enterprises. Developing high-tech agriculture, applying science and technology to production and management is also one of the main directions to ensure efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
These solutions not only help protect the environment and improve product quality, but also create more stable income for farmers, moving towards smart, efficient and sustainable agriculture.

Currently in Dong Nai province, the intensive use of agricultural chemicals has decreased, the efficiency of using natural resources in the production process has increased. Statistics show that the proportion of organic fertilizers in the total fertilizer products produced and consumed reaches 45.5%; water-saving irrigation systems are applied to crops on over 59,000 hectares - accounting for more than 31% of the total area of key crops in the province. More than 1,400 hectares of ineffective rice land have been converted to grow other crops that are more effective both economically and environmentally," said Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Nai province.
Organic agriculture exceeds targets many times over
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Nai province, the province's current agricultural production does not only focus on improving productivity and quality, but also aims to protect the environment, people's health, and ensure food safety. Therefore, developing organic agriculture is a direction to meet the increasing demand for high-quality products. Dong Nai province has many policies to support the agricultural sector to shift to this direction.

Accordingly, the project "Improving the competitiveness of agricultural products in Dong Nai province in the context of international economic integration" is prominent. In which, the state management agencies of Dong Nai province play a creative role to help producers and enterprises transform and orient their development appropriately in the process of international economic integration; focus on developing products and market segments with competitive advantages; build sustainable distribution channels, maintain the market in the province and the country, and protect the livelihoods of agricultural producers.
The project also identified groups of solutions associated with each specific stage and implementation costs to promote development and enhance competitiveness for agricultural products based on assessing the impact of international integration and the current status of agricultural production in the province.
Thanks to that, the province has attracted many businesses to invest in the agricultural sector. The whole province currently has nearly 2,100 businesses, production and business establishments in the fields such as: Fertilizer production, animal feed, aquatic feed, plant and animal breed production... These businesses are gradually shifting towards green and sustainable production.
The Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term identified: "Developing high-tech agriculture and organic agriculture associated with processing industry and product consumption market" as one of the four breakthrough tasks.

To date, the province has had 9 models of growing vegetables, pepper, durian, grapefruit, watermelon, papaya, guava, and chili certified for organic production with an area of nearly 29 hectares. At the same time, the province also has 122 models and areas of organic agricultural production with a total area of nearly 2,500 hectares, many times higher than the target set by the Resolution by 2025.
“The above results are due to the efforts of the province, localities, businesses, and farmers in learning domestic and foreign experiences to apply in agricultural production. The province's goal is green, circular, low-emission agriculture,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Nai province.
