Dong Nai needs to exploit concentrated agricultural production areas

Dong Nai currently has more than 320 concentrated agricultural production areas with about 95.7 thousand hectares. Agricultural products from concentrated production areas have productivity and quality that meet the conditions for export. However, in the past, the connection between farmers and processing and exporting enterprises has not been good, so the output of many agricultural products in concentrated production areas is still unstable.

Specifically, agricultural products in Dong Nai have been exported to more than 30 countries and territories, but the main market is still China. Therefore, gardeners in Dong Nai need to closely link with processing and exporting enterprises to increase agricultural export output. With the advantage of having many large concentrated production areas, if a chain is created from production to processing and export, the value of agricultural products will increase greatly. With favorable output and high prices, gardeners will continue to link to expand large concentrated production areas with strong crops and livestock.

Specifically, with large fruit trees in the province such as bananas, mangoes, durians, rambutans, grapefruits, dragon fruits, and oranges, a production chain can be formed. Because each year, the above fruit trees supply the market with more than 800 thousand tons. Of which, bananas, mangoes, grapefruits, oranges, and dragon fruits, Dong Nai farmers can process to produce fruit all year round. Therefore, if fresh fruits can be exported to other countries, it will help increase the value of the products. In addition, if businesses are attracted to participate in processing into drinks, dried products, soft-dried products, cakes, candies, etc., the province's agricultural products will have stable and sustainable output.

According to enterprises, to create chains in crop and livestock production, there needs to be more support in terms of mechanisms, policies, and credit for enterprises. Because investing in the agricultural sector is often more risky, many enterprises are not interested.

Some experts said that Dong Nai should promote strong investment in the agricultural sector to attract domestic and foreign enterprises with potential, experience, and technology to invest in concentrated production areas. From there, create close links from production to processing and consumption. In 2024, Dong Nai's agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports will reach more than 2 billion USD, but mainly focus on exporting wood products, pepper, coffee, cashew nuts, durian, and fresh bananas; there are many other fruits, vegetables, and fruits that Dong Nai has not yet officially exported.
