The fulcrum of the emulation movement
With the motto "Where there are workers, there are trade unions", trade unions at all levels in the province have constantly innovated the content and methods of organizing emulation movements, focusing on discovering - nurturing - honoring advanced models at the grassroots level. The movement does not stop at slogans but has truly become a widespread driving force, receiving positive responses from tens of thousands of workers, civil servants and laborers.
On the occasion of Workers' Month 2025, 50 outstanding workers will be awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee - a worthy reward for the workers' persistent efforts and dedication. Behind the awards are inspirational stories of perseverance, creativity and responsibility.
A typical example is Mr. Phan Van Nam, Head of Yarn Department, Vina New Tarp Company Limited. With more than 17 years of experience, he is not only a skilled worker but also an exemplary team leader. In 2024, he achieved 310 working days - 100% of the plan, often working overtime to meet export orders. He also successfully invented the "roll removal tool", helping to reduce 50% of the time to change yarn rolls, improve efficiency and minimize machine downtime.
Not only good at his job, Mr. Nam also actively teaches his job to the younger generation. Nam said: “ During the year, I trained 8 new workers, organized many experience sharing sessions, contributing to helping the production team exceed the plan, with more than 4,600 tons of products, an increase of 16.5% compared to the previous year”.
The company's union always accompanies and creates conditions for his initiative to be realized, at the same time proposing worthy rewards, creating motivation for competition among all workers.
Ms. Vu Thi Giang, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Vina New Tarp Company Limited, shared: “The management board and the trade union always encourage technical innovation initiatives. Last year, we proposed to reward 125 million VND to employees with initiatives - that is a practical way to encourage creativity and commitment to the company”.
Creative and dedicated
Not only in the manufacturing industry, in the environment and urban areas, the spirit of competition is also clearly demonstrated through specific examples. Mr. Nguyen Duy Dien - a driver of Uong Bi Environment and Urban Construction Joint Stock Company is a vivid example.
Having worked for many years in the garbage collection business - a unique and difficult job, Mr. Dien has constantly innovated and struggled to improve equipment to serve the job. In 2024, he proposed the initiative "Replacing the bottom of the garbage compactor truck's auxiliary tank from iron to stainless steel", helping to increase the life of the equipment, reduce maintenance costs and improve operating efficiency.
Mr. Dien shared: “The waste water contains many corrosive substances that quickly damage the sub-tank and the trough. After many ineffective repairs, I decided to use stainless steel as a replacement. The results exceeded expectations: more durable, lighter and much more cost-effective.”
Not only creative, he is also the “big brother” in the team, always supporting and guiding new workers, contributing to building a united and friendly working environment. Therefore, he was honored by the company, Uong Bi City and soon the Provincial People's Committee in Workers' Month.
Mr. Hoang Van Hung, Chairman of the Company's Trade Union, affirmed: "Comrade Dien is a shining example in work, exemplary in complying with regulations, and has many initiatives that have been applied in practice. The Trade Union always stands side by side with workers to discover and replicate such typical examples."
In reality, the role of trade unions, especially grassroots trade unions, is increasingly evident. Not only do they accompany rights and life, but they are also the “midwives” for initiatives, discovering and nurturing typical factors. Activities such as the forum “Workers tell stories about their jobs”, seminars sharing experiences, thematic competitions... have helped the emulation movement spread more and more widely.
The model “Each grassroots union - A typical advanced model” implemented by the Provincial Federation of Labor has shown its effectiveness. Every year, thousands of good and creative workers are honored, creating a strong spreading network.
Mr. Cu Huy Thang, Chairman of the Uong Bi City Labor Federation, said: “We always attach importance to emulation work at the grassroots level, organize seminars, exchanges, and promote good examples on digital platforms and union newspapers. This is a way to encourage a positive working spirit and promote the continuous efforts of workers.”
The “Outstanding Advanced Workers” movement in Quang Ninh not only contributes to improving productivity and labor quality but also builds new cultural values in enterprises. Workers like Phan Van Nam, Nguyen Duy Dien and many other examples are beautiful images of new-age workers: skilled, creative, dedicated and responsible. That is also a solid foundation for Quang Ninh to continue to grow strongly, towards sustainable development and international integration.
