Currently, the province has 125 junior high schools and 99 inter-level schools with junior high school level. Right from the beginning of the second semester, the Department of Education and Training (DoET) issued a document guiding the departments of education and training and schools to review and adjust the education plan, ensuring a reasonable review time. The review content is built closely following the matrix and exam specifications in the direction of developing learners' capacity, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Van Thao, Deputy Head of the Secondary Education Department, Department of Education and Training, said: This year, the review work has many innovations, notably the application of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in monitoring learning progress, assessing input quality, and personalizing review content. Schools also strictly maintain the work of checking lesson plans, observing classes, and professional activities to improve teaching quality.
In addition, in order to support students in getting familiar with the exam format and help schools have a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of their review, the Department of Education and Training has directed the organization of a mock exam for grade 10 high school entrance exams in the whole province on May 8 and 9, 2025. This is a mock exam with a common exam format and schedule, including three subjects: Literature, Math and English. In which, Literature and Math are tested in essay format, English is a combination of multiple choice and essay. Currently, schools are actively preparing facilities and invigilators to ensure that the exam is organized seriously, in accordance with regulations, objectively and effectively.
Immediately after the mock exam, schools will analyze the exam results for each question and each unit of knowledge, clearly identifying the weak areas of knowledge of students to adjust the final review plan. Along with that, the use of AI to analyze results and build a personalized review roadmap continues to be encouraged, especially for groups of students with average and weak academic performance. To support this process, the Department of Education and Training has directed the compilation and implementation of a set of 9th grade review documents. This document not only helps teachers have a basis for organizing appropriate review, but also creates conditions for students to proactively self-study and practice at home in a systematic and scientific manner.
Ms. To Lan Anh, English teacher at Le Quy Don Primary and Secondary School (Lang Son city) shared: In this final stage, we focus on helping students get familiar with the test structure, practice skills in handling different types of questions and maintain a stable mentality. In addition to practicing questions closely following the matrix, teachers use classified study sheets and online exercise systems to support students at each level. Before the mock test, we guide students on how to analyze questions, combine multiple choice and essay skills, and regularly encourage them to maintain a positive spirit.
Thanks to the close support of teachers, many students have become more confident before the exam. Nong Hoang Phuong Linh, a student of class 9A7, Hoang Van Thu Secondary School (Lang Son city) shared: I used to be very worried, but with the teachers' thorough guidance in reviewing, I feel more secure. The mock exam is an opportunity for me to review my knowledge and prepare better for the official exam.
According to the plan, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year will take place on June 5 and 6. Students will take three compulsory subjects: Literature, Mathematics (120 minutes for each subject) and English (60 minutes). This is the first year the exam is organized synchronously according to the orientation of assessing students' abilities, in accordance with the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program. With careful preparation from early on, methodical and synchronous implementation, the education sector is focusing on helping students confidently enter this important exam.
