Accompanying veteran members to develop the economy

Veterans of Xuan Truong district introduce effective production and business products of members in the district.

Along with the widespread launch of the movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business", the War Veterans Association at all levels in the district has strengthened propaganda and mobilized members to find new economic development directions, shift production structures based on local conditions and strengths; actively participate in training courses on science and technology transfer to improve knowledge, accumulate experience, and then effectively apply it to their family models. The Association at all levels regularly inspects and evaluates the living conditions of members, especially members in difficult circumstances, to develop plans to help and support; builds criteria for striving to do good business in each grassroots unit, branch and member's family... Specifically, supporting members, especially members in difficult circumstances to develop the economy, regularly organizing activities to visit and give gifts to poor members; donating to support sick and seriously ill members; giving gifts and scholarships to children of war veterans and former soldiers in difficult circumstances who overcome difficulties to study well. In 2024, the Association of War Veterans at all district levels visited and presented 1,526 gifts to poor members and policy families, worth over 284 million VND; presented 911 gifts and scholarships to children of war veterans who overcame difficulties to study well, worth over 232 million VND; coordinated with the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education to present "Learning Never Ends" scholarships to 15 war veteran members. Joining hands with all levels and sectors to support people affected by storm No. 3 Yagi, the Association of War Veterans at all levels called on cadres and members to donate a total of 885 million VND. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Association at all levels visited and presented 1,236 gifts, worth over 244 million VND. To assist members with especially difficult housing circumstances, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the District Veterans Association has inaugurated and handed over 2 gratitude houses from the "Arms of Comrades" Fund, worth 30 million VND/house; continue to survey 3 cases of unsafe houses to support new construction and repair.

To assist war veteran members in developing their economy, every year, the district-level Associations also coordinate with functional units to open training courses on agricultural extension, training to improve knowledge on economic development; guide members to introduce high-yield, high-value plants and breeds into production and animal husbandry; organize tours for members to visit typical models and hold conferences to evaluate and draw lessons from the replication of advanced typical models. From 2024 to present, the Associations at all levels have organized dozens of training courses on agricultural and fishery extension, attracting hundreds of war veteran members to participate. Along with that, the organization has widely disseminated the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on preferential credit policies for lending to poor households and policy beneficiaries, and credit programs for students to cadres and members managed by war veteran members; actively participate with the government and organizations in reviewing poor households and policy beneficiaries who are eligible for loans. To effectively promote capital sources, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in the district coordinates with the Social Policy Bank and credit institutions to train capital management skills for savings and loan groups on allocation, loan assessment, disbursement, capital recovery, interest payment, management and evaluation of capital use efficiency...; regularly evaluate the quality of operations of savings and loan groups according to regulations. Therefore, the quality of loan sources is always guaranteed, with no overdue debt. Up to now, the Association of War Veterans in Xuan Truong district is receiving trust through banking channels with a total outstanding debt of over 125 billion VND. Of which, the loan capital from the Social Policy Bank reaches 47.3 billion VND, other channels 67.8 billion VND, the association fund and internal lending to each other over 10.8 billion VND.

By effectively promoting capital resources, many members have risen out of poverty, become rich, and their material and spiritual lives have been improving day by day. The whole district currently has 17 farms, 178 households, 22 companies, and 33 enterprises owned by war veterans, creating jobs for 2,433 workers, including 856 members, children of war veterans, and former soldiers. The rate of poor war veteran households in the district has decreased to 0.03%; near-poor households have decreased to 0.58%; the number of well-off and rich households has increased, reaching 70.5%; 11/14 communes and towns have no more poor war veteran members, reaching 87.6%. Notably, from within the movement, many war veteran members have emerged who are good at business, such as: Tran Dinh Moc, Director of Dinh Moc Mechanical Company; Phan Trong Dien, Director of Nam Thien Bronze Casting Company; Dinh Tan Viet, Director of Tan Viet Mechanical Company; Pham Duc Tho, Director of Gia Pham Garment Company, Xuan Phu Commune; Nguyen Viet Minh, Director of Minh Nhung Garment Company, Xuan Phu Commune... In the agricultural sector, there are also many War Veterans Association members who are owners of large farms, cooperatives, and always overcome all difficulties to stabilize production and business, achieving revenue of billions of VND/year, such as Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Le Van Ban... On average, every year, the District War Veterans Association has 2 or more members who are honored by the Central Committee of the Vietnam War Veterans Association and the Provincial Association as good production and business members.

With diverse and rich activities to support members in economic development, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in Xuan Truong district has contributed to improving the quality of life for members' families, actively contributing to the task of developing the local economy and society. To promote the movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business", the Association of War Veterans at all levels continues to strengthen propaganda and mobilize cadres and members to promote the will of self-reliance, overcome difficulties, unite to help each other develop the economy, escape poverty soon and get rich legitimately; deploy emulation movements to help each other develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably; create conditions for near-poor and poor households to access capital sources, and have conditions to participate in production development. At the same time, strengthen coordination to promote support for War Veterans' members to develop farm and family economy in the direction of joint ventures and associations, improve the efficiency of using loan capital sources; Develop and replicate models of war veterans who are good at doing business, encourage businesses, cooperatives, and production workshops owned by war veterans to pay attention and create more jobs for children of war veterans and former soldiers.
