On the occasion of President Vo Van Thuong's upcoming visit to Beijing to attend the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF), in an interview with TG&VN reporters, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai highlighted the significance of the visit, the key contents and activities of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation at the event .

Over the past time, Vietnam-China relations have continued to maintain a stable development momentum, substantive cooperation and achieved new, positive progress. How does the Ambassador assess the purpose and significance of President Vo Van Thuong's attendance at the 3rd BRF in Beijing?
At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, President Vo Van Thuong will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the third BRF in Beijing, China from October 17-20.
This is the first working trip to China of Comrade Vo Van Thuong as President and the third time a senior Vietnamese leader has attended the BRF Forum organized by China, continuing the regular exchanges and contacts between the two Parties and the two countries in recent times.
2023 marks the 15th anniversary of the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the 10th anniversary of the formation and development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
President Vo Van Thuong's visit to China this time is of great significance, demonstrating the high regard and top priority of our Party and State in developing relations with China as well as welcoming and appreciating connectivity initiatives, including the BRI, for the goal of peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
This is also an opportunity for the leaders of the two countries to continue to discuss in depth measures to concretize high-level common perceptions, especially the historic official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (October 2022), promoting the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to continue to develop stably, healthily, increasingly in-depth, substantively with higher political trust, deeper practical cooperation, a more solid social foundation, and better control of disagreements.
In the context of the complicated and unpredictable international situation and profound changes in the world economy, the participation of President Vo Van Thuong and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation in the third BRF is a practical activity to consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration comprehensively, extensively, flexibly and effectively, conveying the message of Vietnam as a friend, reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community, contributing to peace, stability, development and cooperation in the region and the world.

Could the Ambassador tell us about the key contents of this BRF and the expected contributions of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the forum?
With the theme “High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: For Common Development and Prosperity”, this BRF focuses on discussing and summarizing the achievements of BRI over the past 10 years, exchanging prospects and directions for future cooperation.
The forum includes 3 high-level sessions with key content on digital economy as a new driver of growth, connectivity in an open global economy, the green silk road for harmony with nature and 6 other forums on trade connectivity, people-to-people exchange, the clean silk road, local cooperation, cooperation between research institutions and maritime cooperation.
The President's attendance and important speeches at the 3rd BRF, with the participation of high-ranking leaders of many countries and delegates, the business community from about 140 countries and international organizations, will contribute Vietnam's voice in promoting peace, cooperation, economic linkage and regional connectivity, deepening relations with countries around the world, contributing to promoting regional and global economic growth, and effectively implementing the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity to promote socio-economic development achievements, share major messages about Vietnam's development goals, perspectives and orientations, effectively attract international resources to serve socio-economic development goals, especially green transformation, digital transformation, inclusive growth and people-centeredness, contributing to enhancing the country's role and position in the international arena.
