On September 4, Comrade Doan Minh Huan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee chaired a meeting and worked with the Gyeongju City Delegation (Korea) led by Mr. Joo Nak-Young, Mayor of the city, on promoting cooperation between the two localities, especially in the field of preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, building and developing the ancient capital's heritage urban area.
Also receiving the delegation were comrades: Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Cao Son, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Van Kien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches, Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise, Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan expressed his pleasure to welcome the Gyeongju City delegation to visit and work in Ninh Binh. He also provided general information about the strengths of the province's geographical location, natural resources, history, culture, and socio-economic development situation. He emphasized that Ninh Binh is a locality with a long-standing historical and cultural tradition. This place used to be the capital of the first centralized feudal state of Vietnam, with the ancient capital of Hoa Lu with more than 1,000 years of history. Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex is the only place in Southeast Asia that possesses a mixed heritage recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage. This is also the difference of Trang An - Ninh Binh compared to other heritages in the region.
Regarding economic development, the Provincial Party Secretary also said: The province's economic growth in the first 6 months of the year ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. Since 2022, Ninh Binh has been self-sufficient in budget and regulated to the Central Government. In the development orientation of Ninh Binh province, it is determined that: Taking tourism development, cultural industry, entertainment industry, heritage economy as the spearhead. High-tech industries are the driving force, in which the pillars are the automobile mechanical industry and the vegetable and food processing industry. Taking innovation as a breakthrough with the goal of building Ninh Binh as the world's outdoor innovation center; an outdoor museum of the Red River civilization. Building ecological agriculture, multi-value, low carbon emissions, contributing to protecting the landscape and environment.
The similarities in culture and history and future development orientation between Ninh Binh province and Gyeongju city have affirmed that the two sides have many opportunities and potential to develop practical and effective bilateral cooperation, bringing good benefits to the governments and people of the two localities; thereby, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Korea. Through the visit and work of Ninh Binh province to Gyeongju city at the end of June and the working trip of the Gyeongju city delegation to Ninh Binh province, the two localities can cooperate in many fields such as: Restoration and simulation of the heritage of the Ancient Capital; exchange of art troupes during festivals and major events of the two localities to increase the internationalization of the event; urban management and heritage of the Ancient Capital; businesses cooperating with each other through government connections.
The Provincial Party Secretary also thanked the Delegation for accepting the invitation and visiting Ninh Binh. He wished the Delegation a meaningful visit, leaving many good feelings and impressions with the land and people of Ninh Binh. Through the visit, the friendship will be further strengthened and opportunities for comprehensive cooperation between the two sides will be opened up in the coming time.
On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Joo Nak-Young, Mayor of Gyeongju City, thanked the leaders of Ninh Binh Province for their warm welcome. Mr. Joo Nak-Young expressed his pleasure to meet the leaders of Ninh Binh Province again after a meaningful visit to Gyeongju City last June. Through visiting the tourist areas and attractions of Ninh Binh, he was very impressed with the landscape as well as the friendliness and hospitality of the people. Ninh Binh and Gyeongju have many similarities in culture-history, future development orientation and are both ancient cities of Vietnam and Korea.
Introducing Gyeongju City, the Mayor said: Gyeongju City is one of the most important historical and cultural destinations in Korea. It is known as the capital of the Silla Dynasty, a kingdom that existed on the Korean peninsula for a thousand years (from 57 BC to the 10th century). Many places in Gyeongju have been recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage, such as the tomb complex, Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto. Gyeongju is also introduced by leading websites as one of the world's top 100 destinations. Currently, Gyeongju is still excavating archaeological sites to continue preserving cultural heritage. Mr. Joo Nak-Young affirmed that Gyeongju is ready to share experiences with Ninh Binh province in the field of archaeology, conservation and restoration of existing heritage.
Along with developing tourism based on cultural and historical heritage, Gyeongju also has a developed economy with diversified industry. Gyeongju has many large industrial zones, including factories producing auto parts, industrial machinery and mechanical products. Large companies such as Hyundai and POSCO have factories and branch offices here, contributing significantly to the local economy.
Although Gyeongju has developed strongly in industry and tourism, Gyeongju is the third largest city in Korea and has a developed agriculture. The main agricultural products include rice, wheat, vegetables and fruits. Mr. Joo Nak-Young hopes that in the future, Ninh Binh's typical agricultural products can be exported to Korea and vice versa, Gyeongju's agricultural products can be exported to Vietnam.
Mr. Joo Nak-Young believes that Ninh Binh province and Gyeongju city will not only stop at cooperation in tourism and agriculture but also develop in many other fields that bring economic benefits to the people of both sides. After this visit, Gyeongju city will send another working delegation to Ninh Binh to exchange and share more detailed and specific experiences in all fields, especially in the field of preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, building and developing heritage urban areas of the ancient capital. Once again, Mr. Joo Nak-Young invited the provincial leaders to visit Gyeongju city and wished Ninh Binh province more and more development, wishing the relationship between the two localities to be increasingly good and develop brilliantly, contributing to building and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
Previously, the Gyeongju City delegation offered incense at the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital National Special Relic Site; visited Hoa Lu Ancient Town and Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.
