Dong Anh district has a natural area of 185.68 km2, a population of over 437,000 people, 24 administrative units at the commune level; where many key traffic routes are concentrated. 2023 is considered a pivotal year for Dong Anh district, Hanoi city to complete the remaining criteria to become a district. With a focused and determined spirit, in the first 9 months of the year, the district has performed well the tasks of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense, security and social security. The security and political situation in the district continues to be stable, many large projects continue to be implemented, and large investors continue to pay attention, research and invest in the area.
Some outstanding results include: Leadership and direction continue to be implemented methodically and scientifically, with clear assignment of people and tasks. Focus on reviewing, evaluating, and ensuring timely completion and quality of the Mid-term Summary Report on the implementation of the Resolution of the 29th District Party Congress. Complete the project dossier for the establishment of Dong Anh district and its wards.
At the same time, financial management and construction investment were proactively deployed, flexibly and promptly managed. Planning and management work was focused on and promoted, initially completing the proposal to establish the planning of the North Red River City - the area of 3 districts Dong Anh, Me Linh, Soc Son in the spirit of Resolution 15 of the Politburo.
Land management, especially public agricultural land, non-public agricultural land and riverside alluvial land, has been strengthened. Cultural, sports and traditional educational activities organized by Dong Anh have increased in both scale and quality.

Ready to go to district
Recently, the Hanoi People's Council approved the project to establish Dong Anh district with an area of over 185km2 and a population of 400,000 people. 24 communes and towns will also be upgraded to wards.
Regarding the criteria for establishing a district, according to the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, up to now, Dong Anh district has 12 communes recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards. As for the criteria for advanced new rural districts, Dong Anh district has currently met 6/9 criteria. The remaining three criteria that have not been met include: Health - culture - education, economy and environment. These criteria are considered very high, even higher than for urban areas, such as schools and cultural facilities that are being urgently implemented by this district.
With the advantage of being the world’s gateway to Hanoi, near Noi Bai airport, with major traffic routes connecting the region, the “new district” Dong Anh will receive increased investment in building technical infrastructure, policy mechanisms, and at the same time increase the number of state officials and security managers. Thanks to that, people will enjoy many beneficial social security mechanisms.
In particular, according to the new orientation of the project to adjust the overall master plan for the construction of the capital to 2030 with a vision to 2050, Dong Anh will be located in the city north of the Red River, becoming the new growth pole of the capital.
Regarding infrastructure, Dong Anh has a synchronous traffic connection system such as Thang Long - Noi Bai, Nhat Tan - Noi Bai expressways, National Highway 5 extension, Truong Sa - Hoang Sa boulevard, National Highway 3, Road 23B, 23A, Thang Long bridge, Dong Tru bridge... The dense traffic network has become the driving force for Dong Anh's development compared to the inner city area.
In the coming time, key transportation projects such as Tu Lien Bridge, Thuong Cat Bridge, new Thang Long Bridge, elevated railway system, and beltway passing through Dong Anh will be focused on implementation. After completion, Tu Lien Bridge will shorten the travel time from Dong Anh to the center of Hanoi to only about 10 minutes.
Along with that, new headquarters of departments, universities, hospitals, national exhibitions, industrial production facilities are being built or relocated from central districts to Dong Anh, leading to a large demand for housing of workers; attracting businessmen and experts to work and live.
In addition, many large real estate enterprises such as Sungroup, Vingroup, Eurowindow Holding, BRG, TH Medical, etc. have chosen Dong Anh to develop housing projects and urban areas, contributing to improving the living standards of residents in the area. Thanks to convenient transportation to the inner city and the airport, Dong Anh will also be a "bright spot" to welcome the trend of population dispersion from 4 inner-city districts, in accordance with the historical inner-city zoning plan of Hanoi.

Dong Anh becoming a district is one of the important premises to concretize the goal of building the Capital into a "Green - cultured - civilized - modern" city, worthy of being one of the economic, tourism, trade - service centers of the Asia - Pacific region.
