The White Princess Temple in Lien Hoa village, Duc Lien commune (Vu Quang district, Ha Tinh province ) is a place of community religious activity, playing an important role in the spiritual life of the local people.
The People's Committee of Duc Lien commune (Vu Quang district) recently held a ceremony to receive the provincial-level historical and cultural relic certificate for the Bach Y Cong Chua Temple. Representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vu Quang district, and a large number of local people attended.
The Bạch Y Princess Temple, located on the banks of the Ngàn Sâu River in Liên Hòa village, Đức Liên commune, is a solidly constructed building with a four-pillar main hall. Surrounding the temple are many ancient trees, some hundreds of years old and over 10 meters tall.
According to historical documents, the temple was built before the reign of Emperor Thành Thái of the Nguyễn dynasty (at the end of the 19th century). The temple is dedicated to the White Robed Goddess, an incarnation of the Mother Goddess Thượng Ngàn, an all-powerful female deity who governs the 81 forest gates of the Southern realm.
The White Robed Princess Temple is located on the banks of the Ngan Sau River, in Lien Hoa village, Duc Lien commune.
When it was first built, the Bach Y Princess Temple was made of wood. In 2015, after a fire completely destroyed the temple, the government and people of Duc Lien commune proceeded to rebuild a sturdy and spacious temple on the old foundation, following the old architecture, with the hope of receiving protection and blessings for favorable weather, bountiful harvests, peaceful lives, and prosperity.
The temple currently preserves three royal decrees from the Nguyen Dynasty (one from the reign of Thanh Thai and two from the reign of Khai Dinh). Today, the temple is a place of faith, a center of community religious activities, and plays an important role in the spiritual life of the local people.
Representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vu Quang district presented the certificate recognizing the Bach Y Cong Chua Temple as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic to the local authorities.
To further promote traditional values, the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," and to acknowledge the precious cultural and historical values of the Bach Y Princess Temple, on January 13, 2023, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued Decision No. 124/QD-UBND recognizing this temple as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic.
