Attending the heritage reception ceremony were members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee: Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh; Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Hoang Khanh Hung; representatives of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Departments, branches, sectors, organizations and a large number of people and followers of the Three Palaces Mother Goddess worship in Hue .

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City Phan Thanh Hai said that the Hue Nam Palace Traditional Festival (also known as Hon Chen Palace) is held at the main location of Hue Nam Palace, located in Hai Cat village, Long Ho ward, Phu Xuan district, Hue city.

The Hue Nam Temple Festival has undergone a long process of formation and development and has increasingly attracted a large number of people and tourists from all over the world to participate. This demonstrates the strong and lasting vitality of the Hue Nam Temple Festival. In the early stages, the Hue Nam Temple Festival only took place within the temple area, later on, the villagers of Hai Cat participated and gradually became widely popular among the people.

The festival takes place with many vibrant and colorful spiritual rituals according to the Mother Goddess worship belief, recreated and organized in Hue.

The Hue Nam Temple Festival is a form of cultural and folk belief activity, aiming to satisfy the spiritual and cultural needs and contribute to enriching the cultural life of the locality. The rituals at the festival such as the ceremony to welcome the Holy Mother and the deities, the announcement ceremony, the main ceremony, the spirit medium ceremony, and the offerings to the Mother are products made by the people themselves from farming, raising animals or fishing activities...

“Today, the traditional festival of Dien Hue Nam carries the characteristics of the holy disciples worshipping Mother Goddesses in Vietnam, it has also become a typical cultural product of Hue. Dien Hue Nam festival has had a strong influence in many regions of the country,” Mr. Phan Thanh Hai emphasized.

According to Mr. Hai, through many different historical periods, the Hue Nam Temple Festival has taken place regularly twice a year in the third and seventh lunar months, with important forms being the ceremony to welcome the Holy Mother and the deities at the 352 Chi Lang Temple through the procession by road and waterway, the Cao Nieu ceremony, the Chanh Te ceremony at Hue Nam Temple and Hai Cat communal house, religious activities, and performing the Hau Dong ritual on the altars and altars.

The Hue Nam Temple Festival demonstrates its influence and scale with the participation of a large community of Holy disciples of the Mother Goddess and domestic and foreign tourists attending the festival.

Along with preserving and promoting the values ​​of Hue cultural heritage, the Department of Culture and Sports has coordinated with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Hue City Mother Goddess Cultural Heritage Association to build a scientific dossier on the intangible cultural heritage "Hue Nam Temple Festival" to propose the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include it in the List of national intangible cultural heritage.

On December 10, 2024, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 3981/QD-BVHTTDL to include the traditional festival "Hue Nam Palace Festival" in the List of national intangible cultural heritage.

“It is an honor and pride that Hue has one more heritage included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This is a common heritage of the community, held by the community and jointly protected and promoted for sustainable value.

In order to promote the value of this precious heritage more effectively, the cultural sector will propose and advise the City People's Committee to issue projects and plans to protect and promote the value of the Hue Nam Palace traditional festival heritage. This also demonstrates the commitment and determination of the city government and people in preserving, promoting and further spreading the value of the Hue Nam Palace national intangible heritage in the context of contemporary society," Mr. Hai affirmed.

The procession welcomed the Holy Mother by road from Thien Tien Thanh Giao Temple (352 Chi Lang) to Nghinh Luong Dinh.

Before the ceremony to receive the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Organizing Committee of the Hue Nam Temple Festival held a ceremony to welcome the Holy Mother and the Council of the Four Palaces by road with the participation of hundreds of people, followers of the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces in Hue.

The welcoming procession started from Thien Tien Thanh Giao (352 Chi Lang) along Chi Lang route to Tran Hung Dao street, continuing to Le Duan before reaching Nghi Luong Dinh relic with a length of more than 3km.

At Nghinh Luong Dinh relic, after conducting the ceremony to receive the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Organizing Committee and the welcoming delegation held a ceremony to pray for peace before welcoming the procession onto dragon boats to go upstream along the Huong River to Hue Nam Palace in Long Ho Ward, Phu Xuan District (Hue City).

According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, this is the third time in more than 50 years that the Hue Nam Temple Festival has carried out the procession of the Holy Mother and the Council of Four Palaces on the road, recreating and building a unique and large-scale folk Carnival at the Summer Festival, within the framework of responding to the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025.

In addition to the procession of the Holy Mother by road, the unique feature of the Hue Nam Traditional Festival is the procession of the Holy Mother by a series of dragon boats moving on the Perfume River.

The traditional festival "Dien Hue Nam Festival" was included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Decision No. 3981/QD-BVHTTDL dated December 10, 2024.
