Embrace the semiconductor chip shift.

The semiconductor manufacturing industry is trending towards Vietnam. Therefore, Da Nang has selected the semiconductor industry as one of the five key economic sectors poised for breakthrough development in the coming years.

With its small area and low population, Da Nang did not choose the same approach as Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, and Bac Giang , which is to attract foreign investors to establish semiconductor manufacturing plants. Emphasizing Da Nang's current attractiveness lies in its favorable legal framework, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, stated that the city currently has many mechanisms and policies in place. Among the five selected key economic sectors, information technology, specifically the semiconductor industry, will be chosen as a breakthrough development area in the coming period.

This serves as a driving force for Da Nang to continue developing and strongly leveraging its resources, especially human resources, in the spirit of harmoniously, rationally, and effectively combining internal and external resources. These resources represent not only new opportunities but also the strong determination of the entire political system, business community, and training institutions to bring about changes in areas where Da Nang has certain advantages.

With an area of 1,128.40 hectares, Da Nang High-Tech Park is one of the three national-level high-tech parks, boasting complete technical infrastructure. The city has an abundant and highly skilled workforce; and the investment and business environment is constantly improving.

During a working visit to the United States in November 2023, the Da Nang City delegation, led by Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, reached a series of agreements with leading global technology corporations. These included support for Da Nang businesses to participate in the ITSJ-G supply chain; Marvell's planned opening of an office in Da Nang in January 2024; and cooperation on human resource training in Da Nang in conjunction with Intel's Artificial Intelligence program. The Da Nang City People's Committee and Synopsys signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation related to the development of the semiconductor sector in Da Nang, witnessed by President Vo Van Thuong.

Da Nang has approximately 250 businesses operating in the field of manufacturing, processing, and assembling electronic components, employing nearly 10,500 workers. Companies specializing in integrated circuit design, such as Synopsys, Savarti, and Fptsemi, employ around 550 engineers, with graduates from Da Nang University of Technology (accounting for 80%), the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, and others.
