Over the years, officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Guard Station have always strived to overcome all difficulties, successfully completing the task of protecting national sovereignty and border security, preventing crime, building a strong local political system, helping people in border communes take care of their health and develop the economy.

Located in Bat Mot commune - a particularly difficult border commune of Thuong Xuan district, Bat Mot Border Post is assigned to manage and protect 17.492 km of border with 7 landmarks and 2 adjacent landmarks; there is a pair of secondary border gates Kheo - Tha Lau located on National Highway 47 adjacent to Sam To district, Hua Phan province (Laos). People's lives in this area are still difficult, many villages and hamlets have not escaped poverty, 15 km from the commune center, dangerous mountain and forest roads. With the characteristics of a large area and limited education level, the unit's management area has many potential risks of causing insecurity and disorder, especially criminals taking advantage of loopholes to commit crimes, especially illegal exit across the border, smuggling, trade fraud; property theft; illegal drug trafficking and storage...
Major Tran Van Sy, Deputy Political Commissar of Bat Mot Border Post, shared: To ensure security and order in the area, the Party Committee, the Command Board, and the Party Committees and authorities of the communes regularly exchange information, grasp the situation, coordinate well in propaganda work, mobilize people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws and regulations in the border area. At the same time, the unit organizes and deploys professional measures, mobilizes forces to regularly patrol and control the border and the interior, prevent illegal entry and exit, and prevent and combat all types of crimes. In particular, plans have been developed and coordinated with forces to protect the safety of the area during major national holidays; heighten vigilance, be ready to coordinate with forces stationed in the area to promptly and flexibly handle situations that arise...
Accordingly, from the beginning of 2022 to now, the station has organized unilateral patrols and inspections of the border and 7 national border markers 58 times with the participation of 423 officers and soldiers, bilateral patrols with Company 216 (Laos) 7 times with 168 participants. Coordinated with Thong Thu Border Post (Nghe An province) to patrol marker 358 twice with 32 participants; coordinated with the Standing Militia Squad and Bat Mot Commune Police to patrol 15 times with 120 participants. In addition, the unit has coordinated to patrol and control the area to ensure security and order 89 times with 268 participants; coordinated with the Thuong Xuan District Forest Protection Department to patrol and protect forest security 12 times with 96 participants.
In addition, the unit identified that raising awareness and understanding of the law for the people is a key solution in ensuring security and order; the station has proactively coordinated with the police force, militia, departments, branches and organizations in the commune to diversify forms of propaganda, such as: Direct propaganda at villages, groups of households, on the village loudspeaker system, mobile loudspeakers of the Border Guard... Regularly sending officers with experience in mobilizing the masses directly to the area to "stick together 3 times, work together 4 times" with the people, helping people to work and produce, build sustainable livelihood models; at the same time, launching movements for the whole people to participate in protecting national security, protecting the national border, building a strong foundation right in the hearts of the people... Well implementing the Vietnam Border Guard Law, agreements and treaties between the two States; building a "Peaceful and Friendly" border for socio-economic development. Since the beginning of 2022, the unit has organized 104 legal dissemination and propaganda sessions, attracting nearly 13,575 listeners.
Along with that, the unit is assigned to be in charge of border communes, with rugged terrain, a dense network of small-scale roads, many subjects often take advantage of residents living on both sides of the border who are in difficult circumstances, have limited awareness to hire them to transport drugs across the border. Therefore, to eliminate hotspots for illegal trading, storage, and use of drugs, the unit has deployed professional measures, coordinated with local armed forces to deploy many peak periods of attacks and suppression of drug crimes. Increase forces to key routes and areas with complicated drug problems to patrol and control. Focus on detecting and destroying drug trafficking and illegal transportation lines from border areas to the inland; review, detect and destroy complicated points of retail trading and illegal use of drugs. Since the beginning of 2022, the station has coordinated to detect and arrest 1 case, 1 subject committing drug crimes, seizing 10.8 kg of opium. Handled 1 administrative violation, 1 subject illegally entering and exiting the country, paying 4 million VND to the State budget. Mobilized local people to hand over 12 guns. Handled 1 administrative violation, 1 subject illegally using a hunting gun, paying 10 million VND to the State budget.
Secretary of the Kheo village Party cell, Vi Van Sang, shared: “The people in the village mainly live and cultivate along the border; therefore, when the Border Guard officers came to mobilize and propagate to participate in protecting the border, border markers, and security and order, the people were very happy and responded (100% of households in Kheo village signed a commitment to protect the border and border markers). In particular, when the people discovered information about loss of security and order, illegal exit... they promptly informed the Border Guard and the authorities for effective handling. A peaceful border is the joy of the Border Guard, and also the joy of the people of Kheo village.”
