"Leverage" for Safe Zone Commune

With the attention of the Central and local governments, in early 2025, many infrastructure projects in the Safe Zone communes in Lak district were invested in and built, thereby creating a "leverage" for local development, especially in areas with a large ethnic minority population.

With a total investment of more than 50.8 billion VND, from the central budget and provincial budget, Dak Phoi Safe Zone Commune invested in the construction of 2 civil works (construction of 12 classrooms and subject rooms at Le Thi Hong Gam Primary School; 8 classrooms, subject rooms and 1 multi-purpose house with a construction area of nearly 430 m2 at Le Loi Secondary School), 1 traffic work and 1 irrigation work.

The project also arranges investment in the construction of the Dak Lieng - Dak Phoi inter-commune road, with a length of more than 7 km, grade V road (mountainous area), 6.5 m wide roadbed, design speed of 30 km/hour.

Construction of Dak Lieng - Dak Phoi inter-commune road.

In early April, contractors are mobilizing human resources, machinery and equipment to speed up construction progress. The road has been invested in and built, meeting the expectations of local people. Mr. Chau Van Nam in Pai Ar hamlet, Dak Phoi commune shared that the road from Dak Phoi commune to Dak Lieng commune has been damaged and degraded for many years. There are many schools on the road, which is also the main road for people to travel and produce, so traffic is quite crowded every day. The current state of the road is not only damaged but also very small, making it very difficult for people to travel during the harvest season. Therefore, when seeing the government building a new road, everyone is happy. Hopefully the road will be completed soon and put into use so that people can travel conveniently and easily.

Similarly, in An Toan commune, Bong Krang area, many construction projects in the fields of civil, traffic, agriculture, education, health, and electricity are being implemented simultaneously. In particular, regarding education, construction of classrooms is being implemented at Hoa Mi Kindergarten, Tran Phu Primary School, and Nguyen Viet Xuan Secondary School. Regarding traffic works, there are 4 rural traffic routes, with a total length of nearly 6 km, including roads in the villages: Hang Ja, Jar, Thai, Dar Ju.

Ms. Lu Thi Thai, Head of Thai village (Bong Krang commune) shared that the road from Thai village to the district center has been damaged for many years, making it very difficult for people to travel and transport agricultural products. In September 2024, due to the impact of storm No. 3, the first section of the road was eroded, making everyone feel insecure every time they passed through. Now that the government has invested in building a new road, everyone in the village is happy and looking forward to the day of completion.

According to Secretary of the Party Committee of Bong Krang Commune Bui Van Thanh, Bong Krang is a locality with a high proportion of ethnic minorities, and the people's lives are still difficult. Currently, the whole commune has 493 poor households, with 2,166 people (accounting for 24.99% of the total population), 387 near-poor households (accounting for 19.61%). Mobilizing resources from the people to build infrastructure for electricity, roads, schools, and stations is very difficult. When benefiting from the project to arrange and stabilize residents in extremely difficult areas of An Toan Khu Commune, the people in the commune are very excited, having more conditions to develop the economy, children have a better learning environment when new classrooms are built; irrigation activities are more convenient when canals are built. Along with the attention and support of the Central and the province, the locality will mobilize other resources, effectively integrate socio-economic development programs to promote people's initiative. At the same time, replicate production models that bring high economic efficiency, contribute to hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and improve people's material and spiritual life.

The Lak District Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that as of early April 2025, the volume of items under the Project to arrange and stabilize residents in extremely difficult areas of An Toan Khu Bong Krang and Dak Phoi communes had reached about 15% of the plan. To meet the set schedule (expected to be completed by the end of 2025), the unit regularly urged and directed contractors to mobilize maximum resources to speed up the construction progress of the items.

The completed project items will contribute to stabilizing and improving people's lives, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters and shifting cultivation. At the same time, it will solve livelihood problems, increase income, contribute to poverty reduction, protect the environment and strengthen security and national defense. On the other hand, it will gradually narrow the gap in living standards and income of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas compared to the average of the whole province and the whole country.
