Late on September 28, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC), a ceremony was held to welcome the delegation of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5, who completed their mission in South Sudan, back to Vietnam.
Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 has 63 officers and staff on duty in South Sudan from July 6, 2023 to October 10, 2024. This time, 51 blue beret soldiers completed their mission and returned home.

During nearly 15 months of operation, the hospital achieved many results such as: admitting, examining and treating nearly 2,400 patients; organizing air transport to higher levels for 15 cases; successfully performing 27 surgeries, especially the successful microsurgical connection of the ulnar and radial nerve bundles in the forearm; and physical therapy for 563 cases.
Among them, many serious and complicated cases were successfully treated, ensuring patient safety, and were praised by the Mission's Chief Medical Officer and the Mission's Military Medical Officer.
In particular, Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 successfully organized a scientific conference for the first time, with the participation of all medical agencies in Bentiu (both civilian and military).

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Mac Duc Trong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 during its mission at the mission.
Colonel Mac Duc Trong emphasized that the hospital staff have left a good impression in the hearts of international friends about the beautiful image of Vietnam and its people.

Colonel Mac Duc Trong said that during the mission, the hospital was always ready to have internal and external emergency teams, ready to respond in all cases when requested by the mission commander such as riots, mass casualties, fires, and medical care during conferences and events of the mission in Bentiu; ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment; ensuring safety in patient treatment and being highly appreciated by the mission commander, Bentiu base commander and other units.

In addition, Major General Tran Quoc Viet also sent his thanks to the families of the hospital staff who are always a strong support for the soldiers to complete their missions.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang shared: "I have a 4-year-old child. Before leaving for duty, I was very worried because my child's health was not good, so I was not at ease when my child was at home without his mother. However, my husband is a strong supporter who helps me a lot so that I can feel secure when I go on duty. On the day of my return, on the plane, I just wanted to get home quickly to see my family and relatives."
