Coach Giustozzi is confident
In this training session, Coach Giustozzi wanted to breathe new life into the Vietnamese futsal team, so he summoned many young faces such as ala Vu Ngoc Anh and pivo Nguyen Da Hai, who just won the 2024 national U.20 futsal championship. Senior Ho Van Y also highly appreciated these players.
Coach Giustozzi added: "The Vietnamese futsal team did not achieve the goal of qualifying for the 2024 World Cup, so I had to make changes. I choose players not based on reputation or experience, but on their performance in the national championship. Young players are all key players in their clubs. 20-year-old or 30-year-old players are the same to me and they have to compete with each other to get a place in the squad. I am very confident in this squad and the young players as well."
Ala Vu Ngoc Anh handled the situation very confidently during the training session of the Vietnam futsal team.
Veterans like Pham Duc Hoa also have to work very hard to compete with their juniors.
Chau Doan Phat, a pillar of the Vietnamese futsal team, is also extremely determined.
The Argentine strategist also commented on the correlation of strength in the upcoming tournament. He said: "The teams in the region have all become much stronger recently. I am not too worried because I have realized this situation for a long time. Not only the Thai team, but also Malaysia and Indonesia have improved. In particular, the progress of the teams comes from the development of the national championship. They have organized better quality, more professional tournaments and have the appearance of many good foreign players."
However, he still appeared very confident: "But when I look back at myself, I see that the Vietnamese players have also improved a lot since I worked here. Therefore, I believe we are capable of competing with our opponents in the group stage and the next round as well.
We can win and we are ready to win. I know we will have difficulties because we have to face Thailand and Malaysia in the group stage. We are ready to cause surprises. As long as the whole team is confident, trains hard and performs well on the field, we can achieve our goal."

On the morning of October 16, the Vietnamese futsal team continued to practice in preparation for the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship. After some light warm-ups, Coach Giustozzi had his players practice finishing, practicing passing skills as well as 1vs1 defense. The strategist paid special attention to finishing exercises, and he constantly reminded them, even when the players made small mistakes. After individual exercises, the Vietnamese futsal team moved on to group coordination training.
Vietnam futsal team spends a lot of time on 1vs1 training
The finishing quality of the Vietnamese futsal team is relatively good. Goalkeeper Ho Van Y was defeated many times by his teammates.
Coach Giustozzi said: "The problem of the Vietnamese futsal team is not in the tactical aspect. I think the team's tactics are better than those of their opponents in some recent international tournaments. If the individuals handled the situation better, the Vietnamese futsal team would have had better results. What I want to do now is to improve the performance of each individual, each position. Each player playing better will help the whole team become stronger.
As everyone has seen, one of the problems of the Vietnamese futsal team is finishing. Like in the recent Asian tournament, the team scored an average of 1 goal/match, which is too low. We need to improve further if we want to go far in the tournaments. We will do our best. I have great confidence in the players and believe that they will improve this."
Coach Giustozzi often stops practice sessions to remind his students.
The 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship will take place from November 2 to November 10 in Thailand, with the participation of 9 teams and divided into two groups, of which Group A has 5 teams including: Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Timor Leste. Group B has the participation of the teams of Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia and Cambodia.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese futsal team will train in Ho Chi Minh City until October 25. After that, the whole team will move to Thailand to train before the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship. In Thailand, the Vietnamese futsal team is expected to have 2 friendly matches, respectively against Hongyen Thakam Club (Thailand) - the team that defeated Thai Son Nam 5-1 in the semi-finals of the 2023 Southeast Asian Futsal Club Championship on October 27 and against the Australian team on October 29.
