Vietnam women's volleyball team wins Asian club championship

Coming from behind to defeat Diamond Food Fine Chef - Air Force (Thailand) 3-2, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the 2023 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship.

Not highly rated at the 2023 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship, but the Vietnamese women's volleyball team (called Sport Center 1) played impressively. In the final against a very strong team from Thailand, the Diamond Food Fine Chef - Air Force club, Sport Center 1 had an impressive performance.

In the first half, with superior courage and class, Diamond Food Fine Chef - Air Force won with a score of 25-21. In the second half, under the pressure of more than 3,000 Vietnamese fans at Vinh Phuc Provincial Gymnasium, the Thai girls still maintained their spirit of steel when leading 3-0, then won with a score of 25-17.

It seemed that the 2-0 lead would help Diamond Food Fine Chef - Air Force easily win the final match, but the indomitable performance of Sport Center 1 changed the situation. With nothing left to lose, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team exerted all their strength and played their best in the 3rd round to find a chance to reopen the door to the championship and excellently won with a score of 25-20.

With the hoped-for victory, the spirit of the Vietnamese players rose, escaping the previous psychological shadow. Captain Thanh Thuy scored the opening point for Sport Center 1. This was followed by an incredible series of points for the Vietnamese girls with a score of 5-1, then winning with a score of 25-21.

With a strong competitive spirit, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team surprised their opponents, Diamond Food Fine Chef - Air Force, and made many mistakes. In the decisive 5th set, the home team continuously took the lead and put pressure on their opponents. After moments of sublime competition, captain Thanh Thuy and her teammates excellently won 15-10 in the 5th set, thereby winning the final 3-2 to win the championship.

Before the 2023 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship kicked off, Vietnamese sports leaders said that this was a tournament for learning and accumulating experience and did not dare to believe that the home team could achieve a high ranking. However, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team created a miracle and this was also the first time in history that a representative of Vietnamese women's volleyball won the championship at the Asian level tournament.
