After securing a ticket to Euro 2024, coach Southgate did not field his strongest squad to face host Macedonia. The match took place at a slow pace as the "Three Lions" played solidly, ensuring safety on their home field.
North Macedonia actively played defensively, causing the team a lot of trouble. Coach Southgate's team only had 2 shots on target after the first 40 minutes. Despite many attacks but no goals, the England team had to pay the price.

In the 41st minute, North Macedonia was awarded a penalty. Bardhi's first shot failed to beat goalkeeper Pickford, but he still managed to score the rebound to open the score 1-0 for the home team.
In the second half, the English team pushed forward to attack in search of an equalizer. In the 47th minute, Jack Grealish fired a close-range shot into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
With the attack at a standstill, coach Southgate was forced to send in his number one striker Harry Kane. In the 59th minute, Kane put pressure on his marker, Atanasov from North Macedonia, and the score was 1-1 for England.
Despite pressing the field in the last 30 minutes, the England team could not find a second goal. However, the 1-1 draw in North Macedonia was enough for the England team to finish the Euro 2024 qualifiers with the top spot in Group C and an unbeaten record.

Slovenia becomes the 20th team to qualify for Euro 2024
A 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in the final round of Group H qualifying helped Slovenia finish second in the group and secure a ticket to Euro 2024. Denmark had previously secured a ticket to Germany thanks to their top spot in Group H.
Euro 2024 has determined the 20 teams that have qualified to participate, including Germany (host), Spain, Scotland (group A), France, Netherlands (group B), England, Italy (group C), Turkey (group D), Albania, Czech Republic (group E), Belgium, Austria (group F), Hungary, Serbia (group G), Denmark, Slovenia (group H), Romania, Switzerland (group I), Portugal, Slovakia (group J).
