Vietnam U17 is now in Saudi Arabia to prepare for the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals taking place from April 3 to 20.
U17 Vietnam completes the final stage
As of early morning on April 2, Vietnam time, coach Cristiano Roland and his team had their third day of training at Taif Permanent Youth Camp, about 40 minutes by bus from the team's hotel.
The whole team is in good spirits and condition before the tournament starts. The temperature in Taif ranges from 18 - 32 degrees Celsius, the time the team goes out to practice is quite hot but it gets cooler towards the end of the session thanks to the temperature dropping quickly and there is a lot of wind.
This is quite favorable for U17 Vietnam when our matches at the 2025 U17 Asian Finals all take place at 6:00 p.m. local time.
After training in Oman with 2 friendly matches winning 1-0 against U17 Oman, coach Cristiano Roland and his team have basically completed the preparations for the official tournament. It is expected that on April 3, the team will finalize the list of participants for the tournament.
Vietnam U17 captain highly appreciated by AFC
Before the training session on the morning of April 2, U17 Vietnam received quite encouraging information when captain Le Huy Viet Anh was rated by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as one of the most worth-watching faces at the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals.
Assessing the captain of the Vietnam U17 team, AFC wrote: "Vietnam U17 had a strong performance in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers with significant contributions from defender Le Huy Viet Anh. This player not only played solidly in defense but also scored the equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Yemen."

Sharing about this, Le Huy Viet Anh said: "I am a bit nervous and excited before entering the tournament. The training session in Oman and the two recent friendly matches with U17 Oman are important stepping stones to help the whole team become more confident. Even though they were just friendly matches, the two wins against Oman still brought great motivation to the whole team.
I am very happy to take on the responsibility of captaincy. There will be pressure, but I consider it as motivation to try harder, help my teammates and show my role on the field. I always encourage everyone to focus, try and not be afraid of any opponent."
Sending a message to his hometown with the fans watching, Viet Anh said: "I hope everyone will always follow and cheer for the team. The whole team will try their best to achieve the best results in each match."
