American Borna Gojo lost his service game with five double faults in his 2-6, 5-7, 4-6 loss to Novak Djokovic in the fourth round of the US Open on September 3.

At the beginning of the second set, Gojo won the serve game and led 2-0. If he had continued to serve, the Croatian would have taken a 3-0 lead and had a chance to win the set against his senior. But he made five double faults, including two consecutive errors when the score was 40-40, which led to him losing the game and allowing Nole to shorten the score to 1-2.

In the remaining games of the match, Gojo only made a total of three double faults. A mistake in the service game right after taking the lead in the second set prevented the 25-year-old from regaining the match. Gojo lost 0-3 in his first meeting with Nole and was eliminated in the fourth round - the Croatian's best result at a Grand Slam.

Before meeting Djokovic, Gojo had won six straight matches at the US Open, including three qualifying matches. In the first three main draw rounds, he did not lose a single service game. But when he met Nole, Gojo lost two service games early and lost the first set 6-2.

In the match, Djokovic only made 12 unforced errors, while Gojo made 40 and was completely outclassed. "I know he has a strong playing style, so I tried not to let him use his strengths of serve and forehand," Nole said after the match.

Despite the loss, Gojo still climbed from 105th in the world to 67th after the tournament. Djokovic is certain to retain the world number one ranking after the US Open. In the quarterfinals, Nole will face Taylor Fritz - a player who has lost to him in all seven previous encounters. There are three Americans in Djokovic's semi-final bracket: Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton.

The remaining bracket sees many evenly matched matches. At 11:30 pm today (Hanoi time), Andrey Rublev will face Jack Draper. Then, Carlos Alcaraz will meet phenomenon Matteo Arnaldi. Daniil Medvedev will face Alex De Minaur, while the latest match of the fourth round will be between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev at 7:30 am on September 5.
