On August 29, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu visited Russia and, together with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Vladimir Titov, chaired the 12th Vietnam-Russia Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy, Defense and Security.

During the working trip, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu paid a courtesy visit to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and met with Director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Fradkov.

During the meetings, both sides expressed their satisfaction with the positive developments in theVietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times. Both sides affirmed their commitment to promoting cooperation in all areas of politics - diplomacy, economics, defense - security, science - technology, education - training, culture, tourism, etc.

The two sides also agreed to make joint efforts to implement bilateral cooperation, in accordance with the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the long-standing traditional friendship between the two peoples, for the common interests of the two countries.

In the spirit of high trust and mutual understanding, the two sides had in-depth discussions on international and regional issues of mutual concern, assessing the rapidly changing, complex and unpredictable world and regional situation, requiring the promotion and enhancement of the role of multilateral mechanisms to respond to common challenges.

The two sides agreed to increase information exchange and close coordination at international forums, especially at the United Nations, within the framework of ASEAN-Russia cooperation. Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his hope that Russia would promote multifaceted cooperation with ASEAN and continue to make positive contributions to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu visited and worked with the leaders of Saint-Petersburg City, met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, and Russian friends (Veterans Association, Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association), representatives of the Vietnamese Association in Russia, and Vietnamese students in Russia to attend the flower-laying ceremony chaired by Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg City.
