On the evening of April 13, in Hanoi, the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Association (also known as the Hanoi Blood Association) held a ceremony to announce the decision to change the name of the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Association to the Vietnam Youth Blood Donation Association, under the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi city.
Recently, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (April 7, 2000 - April 7, 2025), with the goal of developing the youth force to mobilize blood donation nationwide and expanding the model, the solidarity front, gathering young people to contribute to the country, with the consent of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, the Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi officially issued Decision No. 04/QD-HHN on changing the name of the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Mobilization Association to the Vietnam Youth Blood Donation Mobilization Association from April 7, 2025.
The ceremony to announce the decision to change the name was attended by representatives of central agencies, leaders of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the National Blood Center, and more than 250 outstanding young blood donors.
This is not only an opportunity to look back on the Association's journey over the past 30 years, but also the beginning of a new development phase, with a new vision for the oldest voluntary blood donation organization in Vietnam.
In particular, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Voluntary Blood Donation Day, the Association was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union in recognition of its outstanding contributions to blood donation.

At the event, President of the Vietnam Youth Blood Donation Association Trinh Xuan Thuy shared: With the new name, the Association will continue its mission of developing blood donation activities nationwide, maintaining and developing national-scale blood donation events such as: Spring Festival, Volunteer Heart, Red Journey, Gratitude Drops, Mid-Autumn Festival for Children,... The Association believes that, with the support of agencies, organizations, press, media and especially the volunteer youth force across the country, voluntary blood donation activities will spread more and more strongly and sustainably...
Member of the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi Pham Minh Phuc expressed his impression of the organizational structure as well as the current growth of the Association with 12 branches, more than 80 blood donation clubs at schools, and more than 3,000 volunteers. At the same time, he said that the name change will mark a turning point and innovation in the organization and activities of the Association.
Reviewing the Association's development and name changes, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Que, Director of the National Blood Center, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, shared: "The Association's activities are an extension of the blood transfusion industry in general and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in particular. The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the National Blood Center have always been closely linked, creating the best conditions for all activities of the Association over the past time; many Association staff have matured and become staff of the Institute."
Entering a new phase with a new name, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Que hopes that the Association will maximize its core role in the blood donation movement in Vietnam, will build many programs not only in Hanoi, but also across the country; at the same time, build a network of volunteers and collaborators for the blood transfusion industry.
