Indonesia team calls 13 overseas players to play against Vietnam team

In the call-up list, coach Shin Tae-yong called up 13 players who are playing football abroad. Of these, 10 are naturalized players.

Notably, the four newly naturalized players are Jay Idzes, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Thom Haye and Ragnar Oratmangoen. Jay Idzes is on the payroll of Serie B club Venezia and is the number 1 choice of coach Paolo Vanoli.

Nathan Tjoe-A-On and Thom Haye both play for Heerenveen - Doan Van Hau's old team. Tjoe-A-On, 21, plays for the Dutch team on loan from Swansea City. His preferred position is left-back. Thom Haye, born in 1995, is a mainstay in Heerenveen's midfield this season.

Ragnar Oratmangoen is a member of the Fortuna Sittard club. He is not the first choice of head coach Danny Buijs but is often given the opportunity to play from the bench. He has played 24 matches this season.

Compared to the list of players attending the 2023 Asian Cup, coach Shin Tae-yong eliminated 4 people: Adam Alis, Shayne Pattynama, Ernando Ari Sutaryadi and Dendy Sulistyawan.

Goalkeeper Ernando Ari was not called up due to injury. Adi Satryo was called up as his replacement.

Indonesia is determined to win maximum points in the two matches against Vietnam. On the rankings, Iraq is at the top with 6 points. Vietnam is in second place with 3 points. Indonesia and the Philippines are in the bottom two with 1 point.

The first leg will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on March 21. The second leg will be held five days later at My Dinh Stadium.
