Engineer Team No. 3, Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 set out for duty

Attending the departure ceremony were Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Deputy Minister of National Defense and many leaders of the Party and State.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the "blue beret force" under the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, especially the officers and staff of the Level 2 Field Hospital and the Engineering Team in the past time.

Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 and Engineering Team No. 3 set out to carry out their mission.

The Vice President also emphasized that Vietnam's "blue beret force" always carries national pride, bravery, intelligence and strives to overcome all difficulties to complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and Army, meeting the increasingly high requirements of the United Nations.

"You are 'messengers of peace' at the United Nations, contributing to shining the image of the country and people of Vietnam, the image of 'Uncle Ho's soldiers' in the new era," said the Vice President.

Also at the ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang - Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department - said that all preparations have been completed.

100% of officers and staff of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 and Engineering Team No. 3 are confident in their work, have determined their tasks well, have been fully vaccinated, and are ready to go on missions.

Engineer Team No. 3 replaces Engineer Team No. 2.

In this deployment, 203 officers and staff of the 3rd Engineer Team will replace the 2nd Engineer Team at UNISFA (Abyei area). Of these, 184 are regulars and 19 are reservists (28 officers, 175 professional soldiers, 19 women).

This force is selected and mobilized from agencies and units: Military Regions 1, 2, 3, 4; Army Corps 1, 2; branches: Engineering, Special Forces, Communications; Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and other agencies and units throughout the army.

The 3rd Engineer Team will carry out tasks assigned by the United Nations such as performing specialized engineering tasks as committed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Vietnam and the United Nations.

Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 replaces Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5

There are 70 officers and staff of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 who will depart for the United Nations Peacekeeping mission at the UNMISS mission (South Sudan). Of these, 63 are official and 7 are reservists (26 officers, 44 professional soldiers, 16 women).

This is a force selected and mobilized from medical agencies and units throughout the army.

The forces of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 continue to carry out medical and pharmaceutical professional tasks based on the 2017 United Nations Medical Handbook and the November 2019 United Nations Guidelines.

100% of officers and employees of Engineering Team No. 3 and Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 on duty have been thoroughly informed and strictly implemented the regulations of the United Nations, the mission, and the laws of the host country; strictly abided by the laws of the State, military discipline, and ensured safety in performing their duties.

On November 20, 2022, the Minister of National Defense signed a decision to establish Engineering Team No. 2 under the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department to perform UN peacekeeping missions. The team has 203 members, including 184 official and 19 reserve (27 officers, 176 professional soldiers, 19 women).

In mid-August 2023, the 2nd Engineer Team arrived in Abyei to begin its UN peacekeeping mission.

For more than 10 months, Vietnam has sent nearly 900 officers and professional soldiers, including 13 police officers, to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
