According to travel companies in Mong Cai, the period from the beginning of 2024 to the present has seen a "boom" in tours using travel permits from Mong Cai to Dongxing City. This is the result of numerous discussions between the authorities of the two localities aimed at restoring this unique tour after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr. Ta Quang Thang, director of a company specializing in organizing tours between Mong Cai City and Dongxing City (China), said that the Dongxing tour is one of the tours with relatively low costs compared to many domestic destinations, but it offers tourists a real "going abroad" experience without needing a passport.

According to Mr. Thang, visiting Dongxing City (China) allows tourists to explore a space rich in Chinese culture at an affordable cost. In particular, Dongxing City not only boasts many bustling shopping centers but also a seaside village that many tourists find appealing.
Mr. Vu Si Tuan (44 years old, a tourist from Bac Ninh ) said: "My family chose a tour to Dongxing City because hotels in Mong Cai City were fully booked during the holiday. The procedure for obtaining a travel permit was quite simple, and after arriving here, there were still plenty of rooms available."
According to market surveys, the current price for a day trip from Mong Cai City to Dongxing City (China) is approximately 800,000 VND per person; a one-night stay costs between 1.2 million and several million VND per person, depending on the services required.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, tours to Dongxing City (China) have become a popular choice for many tourists.
Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , a leader of Mong Cai City said that recently, Mong Cai and Dongxing cities have held many talks and conferences to exchange ideas on promoting border tourism. This is a necessary factor, not only contributing to the socio-economic development of border provinces, but also serving as an important driving force for the overall development of tourism and the country's socio-economic development, promoting cultural exchange, and strengthening friendly cooperation.
According to the leaders of Mong Cai City, the locality is coordinating with relevant agencies to expedite the necessary conditions and cooperate with Dongxing City (China) to soon reopen self-driving tours, a type of tourism that is highly anticipated by the people.
