For many years, Dang family village has been known as a peaceful mural village.
These murals depict simple beauty, depicting the daily life of the people such as highland landscapes with hills, streams, grass, flowers, and images of beloved ethnic people...
According to the People's Committee of Mong Cai City, Dang family hamlet was previously just a remote residential area, mainly inhabited by the Thanh Y Dao people. Since 1979, 15 Dao households (now 20 households) with the surname Tang came here to establish a new hamlet in Po Hen village. Because the surname Tang is pronounced similar to the word Dang, the people's government called it Dang family hamlet.
Since 2017, the Mong Cai City government has been planning to develop this area into a tourist destination. After having convenient transportation, local authorities and local people have planned to organize tourism activities to experience the border area; in which, organizations have been assigned to coordinate with local people to organize mural painting.
The paintings depict the simple life of local people.
Initially, only about 10 households did it, but now every house in the Dang family neighborhood has been given a "new coat" with unique paintings.
In particular, coming to the Dang family mural village in May, visitors can also immerse themselves in the vibrant and colorful sim flower festival such as the "Po Hen market" introducing local products, specialties, and cuisine; sports exchanges, folk games such as women's soccer exchange at Po Hen; tug of war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, top spinning, throwing balls, monkey bridge, blindfolded duck catching; cake wrapping competition...
