Unique homestay Huong Hoi Que

Việt NamViệt Nam22/01/2025

Homestays are a unique and familiar type of accommodation in Binh Lieu. Most homestays in Binh Lieu are designed to allow guests to eat, sleep, live, and experience life like a true local. Located in a convenient location in Khe Tien village (Dong Van commune), the newly completed Huong Hoi Que homestay adds another unique accommodation option, reflecting the rich culture of the Dao ethnic group, for visitors to Binh Lieu.

Huong Hoi Que Homestay blends seamlessly with the expansive, pristine natural environment of the high mountains.

With the desire to preserve and protect the traditional rammed-earth houses passed down from their ancestors for future generations, and to transform these traditional houses into homestays for tourists, since 2023, the family of Mr. Duong Phuc Thim (Khe Tien village, Dong Van commune) has been building two homestays in the traditional rammed-earth house style using new technology. Accordingly, Mr. Thim has focused on improving building materials to retain the advantages of the old construction method while increasing durability and weather resistance, meeting the modern accommodation requirements of tourists, especially international visitors, when coming to Binh Lieu.

The opening of Huong Hoi Que Homestay marks the beginning of modern and professional tourism development in Dong Van commune - the most remote area of Binh Lieu district. At the same time, it encourages local people to boldly build traditional bamboo-walled homestays, aiming to transform Khe Tien village into a distinctive Dao ethnic tourism village with at least 30 homestays in the coming years.

The two Huong Hoi Que homestays captivate visitors with their unique design, harmoniously blending with nature. The spacious rooms can accommodate up to 10 people and are fully equipped with amenities and private bathrooms, meeting the standards of a 3-star or higher accommodation. Each room features large windows, allowing natural light to flood in and providing guests with panoramic views of the village. Along with the local cultural elements in each room, the homestay grounds offer many delightful features such as a rustic wooden table for conversation, a thatched-roof umbrella for shade, and a lush green vegetable garden next to the veranda… all creating a simple, intimate atmosphere, reflecting the lifestyle of the local people.

The homestay's grounds are still being renovated.

Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of city life, immersing oneself in nature, freely exploring the landscape and space, and enjoying dishes with the rich flavors of the mountains and forests is the feeling most visitors experience when coming to Huong Hoi Que homestay. Especially with its prime location, nestled against the mountainside and facing the terraced rice fields, surrounded by lush greenery, and with the distant Khe Tien waterfall flowing like a love song of the mountains, the homestay's peaceful atmosphere creates a serene and relaxing feeling that entices visitors to linger after their first visit.

Mr. Duong Phuc Thim, owner of Huong Hoi Que homestay, shared: "Tourists come to Binh Lieu because they love the cultural beauty of the local people. Therefore, I want my homestay to have a distinctive character, truly like a warm and cozy traditional Dao house, creating a space for tourists to experience the local culture. Tourists will experience many unique cultural and tourism activities such as watching ethnic cultural performances, enjoying traditional dishes of the Thanh Phan Dao people, trekking through the forest in Dong Van, and visiting and learning about the lives of the people in the village… This is also my heartfelt effort to work with the local community to preserve ancient houses and build cultural villages of the Tay, Dao, and San Chi people to serve tourism development."

The rooms at Huong Hoi Que homestay are modernly designed and fully equipped with amenities.

Besides Huong Hoi Que homestay, in 2024, Binh Lieu also saw the opening of several other notable homestays such as Hai Thai homestay (Cao Son village, Hoanh Mo commune); Hoa Binh Lieu Cooperative upgraded its accommodation facilities with 9 family-style houses… To date , the entire district has 40 accommodation establishments (3 hotels, 24 guesthouses, 13 homestays), with a capacity of approximately 1,200 people, increasingly meeting the recreational and relaxation needs of tourists visiting Binh Lieu.

The diversity of accommodation options, especially the formation and development of homestays with unique local cultural characteristics, has contributed to creating distinctive community tourism models. This reflects the efforts and dedication of the local people in working together with the local authorities to better preserve and promote the natural beauty, culture, and people of Binh Lieu, significantly contributing to increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of local tourism.
