Instead of choosing luxury gifts such as foreign wine, imported fruits, cakes, jams, this year many people have switched to buying rustic specialties, OCOP products such as agricultural products, processed foods, functional foods, pharmaceuticals... as gifts for Tet.
This makes the Tet market more diverse and vibrant. Many OCOP entities have designed Tet gift baskets from their own products to give customers more choices.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai - owner of Hong Hac incense production facility, Khanh Hong commune (Yen Khanh district, Ninh Binh) - said that this is the first year her facility has launched gift baskets and Tet gift boxes such as: "Fresh grass" with relaxing, low-smoke incense; "7 days of fragrance" combined with 6 boxes of herbal buds for home fragrance; "Fragrant Tet" gift basket includes 1 bottle of cinnamon bark essential oil, 4 packages of home fragrance buds with incense, vetiver, cardamom, and cinnamon.
"For only 120,000 - 190,000 VND, customers can own a meaningful and delicate gift basket from Hong Hac incense production facility to give to their loved ones on Tet holiday. This year we produced about 1,000 gift boxes and they have all been sold out" - Ms. Hoai shared.
At Thanh Nguyen Agricultural Production and Trading Cooperative (Ninh Binh City), on the occasion of Lunar New Year this year, the facility has collaborated with a number of other OCOP entities in Ninh Binh province to design unique gift boxes and baskets to meet the needs of customers. In particular, the 3-item and 5-item boxes bring together specialties of the ancient capital such as: water bug fish sauce, Dong Son peach wine, Cuc Phuong yellow flower tea, Tong Truong perch floss and braised pork with shrimp paste. The gift baskets are priced from 500,000 VND to over 1 million VND. The unique thing is that on the packaging of each gift basket is printed the story of each product.
"The products not only bring material value but also contain the identity, cultural value, and history of the land and people of the ancient capital; along with the dedication of those who created it. Therefore, when giving a gift, it will become even more meaningful" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - representative of Thanh Nguyen Agricultural Production and Trading Cooperative shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Binh province - said that Ninh Binh province currently has 178 products recognized as OCOP, including many products with strong Tet flavors such as various types of tea, peach wine, processed foods, etc. All products are granted food hygiene and safety certificates, collective trademarks, and certification marks and have created their own mark in the market.
"Strengthening advertising and trade promotion connections to widely develop OCOP products in the national market is the goal of Ninh Binh province in the coming time. Putting OCOP products in gift baskets and Tet gift boxes is also a solution to help products increase competitiveness, spread to the market, and contribute to developing the Ninh Binh OCOP brand. This is also one of the potential directions in commercializing OCOP products that the subjects are aiming for" - Ms. Anh said.
