According to GearRice , the iPhone 15 series is positioned as one of the best-selling smartphones in South Korea, with an estimated 40% more sales than the iPhone 14. South Korea is the home of Samsung and Apple itself does not consider this a priority market as the iPhone 15 series was launched in South Korea later than many other countries.
iPhone 15 series unexpectedly grows strongly in Korea
The success of the iPhone 15 series comes despite South Korea being one of the countries where people are very supportive of the home brand. One of the factors behind the increase in iPhone 15 series sales this year stems from incentives from carriers, making the device more attractively priced.
Statistics from market tracker Atlas Research and Consulting show that iPhone 15 series sales increased 41.9% in the first month of its launch in South Korea since October 13 when compared to the iPhone 14 series in the same period last year. In particular, iPhone 15 sales more than doubled compared to the same period, while the highest-end model with a higher price saw sales growth of 42.3%.
When comparing the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra, it can be seen that the differences between both devices and some highlights of Apple's phone have hurt Samsung's sales. Among these, the camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max is proven to be better than the Galaxy S23 Ultra, while the battery life on Apple's product also surpasses its competitor.
Perhaps because of this data, Samsung is considering copying the iPhone 15 for the upcoming Galaxy S24 generation. Analysts are questioning whether what happens on the Galaxy S24 series is enough to attract customers in Korea to the product.
