Thanh Hoa export enterprises respond to the trade war

Taking advantage of the "golden time", 888 Company Limited boosted production and delivered goods to partners on time.

888 Company Limited (under Garment Corporation 10) in Quang Hop Commune (Quang Xuong) is a business specializing in processing garments including jackets, wool coats, women's vests, and sports pants for export to markets such as the US, EU, Japan, and Canada, of which the US market accounts for over 90%. The company's CEO, Le Van Bac, said: "Since the beginning of 2025, the company has had to continuously work overtime to meet export orders for partners. The fact that the company has signed many orders not only ensures jobs and income for workers until the end of August 2025, but also contributes to bringing the company's export value in the first quarter of 2025 to more than 20 billion VND in revenue, an increase of 15% over the same period."

According to Mr. Bac, if the US imposes a reciprocal tax of up to 46% on imported goods from Vietnam, businesses will face many difficulties in maintaining production activities because they cannot withstand the pressure when costs increase by 1.5 times, leading to losses. Therefore, at this time, in addition to waiting for the Government to negotiate with the US to find a harmonious solution between the two sides, businesses are also trying to find and target new markets such as: Korea, Japan and European countries. On the other hand, businesses are taking advantage of the "golden time" of 90 days when the US postpones the imposition of taxes to boost production, promptly delivering orders to partners to ensure the time as per the signed contract.

Delta Sports Equipment Joint Stock Company in But Son town (Hoang Hoa) is an enterprise specializing in the production of sports balls and garments, mainly sportswear, exported to 32 countries around the world such as Korea, the US, Japan, Hungary, Brazil, Denmark, France..., of which the US market accounts for 60%. Head of the company's Organization and Administration Department, Le Ngoc Giap, said: "In response to the situation where the US imposes a 46% reciprocal tax on imported goods from Vietnam, the company and its partners are still in the process of negotiating based on the situation of the two countries. The company is also promoting and expanding to other markets. Because in addition to the US market, the company has many other partners in 30 countries around the world".

Thanh Hoa currently has 304 enterprises participating in exports to 68 markets with 55 industry groups and fields such as footwear, garment, agricultural products, construction materials, etc. Export orders for 2025 of many industry groups are very positive. Many enterprises have signed orders until the end of the second and third quarters, and some have even signed until the end of the fourth quarter of 2025. The signing of many orders has contributed to bringing the total export turnover in the first quarter of 2025 in the province to over 1.4 billion USD, an increase of 17.2% over the same period.

In the second quarter of 2025, export activities will face many difficulties and challenges, especially the imposition of reciprocal tariffs by the US. In order to ensure the target of 8 billion USD in export value of goods in the province in 2025, Thanh Hoa province has been actively directing departments, branches and localities to flexibly implement solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses to operate. Currently, the industry and trade sector is monitoring market developments, economic, political and policy fluctuations in the region and the world affecting Vietnam's trade, in order to promptly advise on policies to support businesses in expanding their markets. While waiting for negotiations between the Vietnamese and US governments, the industry and trade sector recommends that export enterprises proactively grasp market information, promote trade promotion activities and diversify export markets.
