Mr. Nguyen Chanh Phuong, Vice President of the Handicraft and Wood Processing Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA) said that many member enterprises have proactively contacted and worked with partners in the US market.

Mr. Nguyen Chanh Phuong, Vice President of the Handicraft and Wood Processing Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA), said that many member enterprises have proactively contacted and worked with partners in the US market. Many partners also committed to sharing part of the tariffs with Vietnamese enterprises and continuing to import goods from Vietnamese enterprises; at the same time, they believe that all difficulties will soon pass.

Mr. Nguyen Chanh Phuong proposed that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City direct departments and branches to strengthen trade promotion to support enterprises; expand the Exhibition Center to support enterprises in promoting products and connecting with international buyers. In the medium and long term, Vice Chairman of Hawa said that in the next 1-3 years, wood industry enterprises will have a structure to diversify goods, as well as diversify market segments.

Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Textile, Embroidery and Knitting Association Pham Van Viet said that in the current context, Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises need to promote development and expand the domestic market. At the same time, he recommended that the authorities properly and fairly control the development of e-commerce, ensuring the origin of goods to create fair competition for Vietnamese enterprises.

Along with that, textile and garment enterprises also need to diversify and seek new markets. Currently, Vietnam has many FTAs with many markets, so this is also an opportunity for enterprises to restructure and diversify markets towards sustainable development.

Halal market still has a lot of room

Ms. Ly Kim Chi, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association, said that businesses in the industry have also discussed and shared information with partners to assess the specific situation. Many importers have pledged to continue importing goods from Vietnamese businesses, as these are essential consumer goods, and have pledged to share difficulties together if any.

Regarding solutions for the industry in the coming time, Ms. Ly Kim Chi said that for the domestic market, it is necessary to continue to maintain more consumer stimulus programs to boost consumption and support manufacturing enterprises. "For a long time, the stimulus programs of Ho Chi Minh City have been good, they need to be implemented better and expanded nationwide."

According to Ms. Ly Kim Chi, for the export market, Vietnamese enterprises need to take advantage of the signed FTAs more effectively. In fact, in recent times, most small and medium enterprises in Vietnam have limited financial resources and information, so trade promotion and access to new markets have been very limited, or trade promotion activities have not gone into depth. Meanwhile, if enterprises and associations proactively connect and have support from consulates of countries in export markets, they will bring many positive results.

The Chairman of the Food and Foodstuff Association of Ho Chi Minh City also suggested the Halal market with 2 billion Muslims, while Vietnamese enterprises have not paid attention to this market, so the departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City should promote propaganda about the Halal market so that enterprises can understand and proactively connect to the market more.

Towards B2C sales method, reducing intermediaries

Mr. Dinh Hong Ky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Secoin Joint Stock Company, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Building Materials (VABM) said: "The Company's partners in other markets, such as Europe, are very sympathetic and supportive, discussing plans to expand the source of goods if the US market encounters difficulties."

In the current context, Mr. Dinh Hong Ky believes that Vietnamese enterprises should pay more attention to the B2C sales method - allowing enterprises to sell directly to customers through many different channels, such as retail networks, websites, mobile applications and social media channels. This helps enterprises be flexible in sales and increases the ability to meet current customer needs.

The position of Vietnamese goods in the international market (made in Vietnam) is receiving trust from many customers. Therefore, B2C sales should be taken into account, even if there are tariff barriers, consumers can still buy goods at competitive prices, because they do not have to go through many intermediaries. This is an inevitable trend today when e-commerce and artificial intelligence (AI) applications are developing strongly and becoming a trend.
