Total retail sales maintain growth momentum, but forecast will not be high
According to the latest report of According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the domestic commodity market has generally not had any unusual fluctuations in recent times. Other essential goods, the supply is stable so the price has not fluctuated much, some energy fuel group items have prices fluctuating according to world prices such as gasoline, LPG.
Total level retail Revenue from consumer goods and services at current prices in October 2024 is estimated at VND 545.7 trillion, up 7.1% over the same period last year, mainly due to the food and foodstuff group increasing by 12.0% and the means of transport group (excluding cars) increasing by 21.4%.
In the first 10 months of 2024, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices is estimated at VND 5,246.2 trillion, up 8.5% over the same period last year (up 9.8% over the same period in 2023), if excluding price factors, it increased by 4.6% (up 7.3% over the same period in 2023).
Retail sales of goods in the first 10 months of 2024 alone are estimated at VND 4,048.6 trillion, accounting for 77.2% of the total and increasing by 7.8% over the same period last year.

According to manufacturers and retailers, despite the cyclical nature of the situation, purchasing power domestic market will increase at the end of the year, but this year it is forecasted to not be as high as expected. The reason is that currently, the domestic economy continues to be affected by negative factors, including storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) occurring in mid-September 2024. These fluctuations have made consumers more cautious in spending, and they have even increased their price sensitivity. Specifically, after storm No. 3, purchasing power in the North and Central regions decreased, purchasing power in Ho Chi Minh City also decreased because many consumers tend to accumulate to prevent risks, cutting down on personal spending.
Businesses increase year-end consumer stimulus

At the same time, she said that along with the development of the system in terms of the scale of the WinMart supermarket chain, WinMart+ and WIN stores, for the two groups of pork and chicken products, the system has increased production by about 20-30%; vegetables by about 20% compared to normal months of the year.

In addition, from now until the end of the year, Saigon Co.op continues to organize many promotional programs to both stimulate consumption and accompany businesses in developing the market.
Previously, during the 2024 Tet season, the total value of essential goods prepared by Saigon Co.op was up to 10,000 billion VND, an increase of 20% -50% depending on the product group compared to normal business months.
For localities, Ms. Nguyen Kieu Oanh - Deputy Director in charge of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade shared that in 2024, Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade implemented a market stabilization program with 30 participating enterprises, ensuring sufficient stabilization of consumer goods for the end of the year and Lunar New Year.
