Having worked for 5 years at a leather shoe factory in Thu Dau Mot City (Binh Duong), Mr. Nguyen Hoai Lam, Quang Luu Commune (Quang Xuong) has now decided to return to his hometown to work.

Mr. Lam shared: “A year ago, when I was still living in Binh Duong, I had a monthly income of about 18 million VND, but I had to worry about many expenses for the whole family, so I couldn't save much. When the economic recession hit, the company faced many difficulties, many employees were laid off, those who were retained like me had their salaries reduced by more than 50%, while living expenses remained the same. After thinking it over, my wife and I decided to return to our hometown to find jobs. Although we knew our income would decrease, we were closer to our family and had relatives to support us, so we felt less pressured to work with peace of mind.”

In recent years, Quang Xuong district has made great efforts to promote the development of enterprises, thereby contributing to creating jobs for thousands of local workers. Currently, the district has nearly 400 operating enterprises, creating new jobs for 3,500 local workers each year on average. In 2023 alone, the district created jobs for 3,850 workers, exceeding the set plan. In particular, while in the past, most workers over 35 years old would struggle to find work, in recent years this situation has gradually been overcome. Specifically, the number of workers over 35 years old currently accounts for 20 - 25% of the total number of workers in enterprises.

Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Xuong District, Nguyen Thi Loan, said: Currently, in the district, there are many enterprises operating in the field of garment and leather shoes with a need to recruit a large number of workers. This is an opportunity for local workers and workers returning from other provinces. Although there are no specific statistics, in reality, after workers who have worked away from home for many years, they return home for holidays and Tet, they decide to stay in their hometown to find jobs to stabilize their lives. This is proof that domestic enterprises are increasingly becoming more attractive to local workers. To do this, it is the efforts of the enterprises themselves, both ensuring the development of the enterprise and paying close attention to the spiritual life of workers, thereby providing appropriate benefits to attract and retain their human resources.

888 Company Limited (under Garment Corporation 10), in Quang Hop Commune (Quang Xuong) is a typical example. Recruitment is always carried out continuously by the company due to the large volume of work. For new workers, they will be given the opportunity to both study and work with a salary of 3 million VND/month. After their skills have stabilized, they will receive a fixed salary plus income based on products. In addition, during peak periods, workers who have to work overtime are also provided with additional training by the company to improve work efficiency. Currently, the company has created jobs for more than 1,000 workers, with an income of 8 - 10 million VND/month depending on the position.

Because labor resources are the most important "link", the survival of enterprises, enterprises have implemented many appropriate policies and treatment regimes, thereby easily attracting workers. According to statistics from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2023, more than 28,700 workers had decisions to receive unemployment insurance (UI), including 6,500 workers from other provinces. After completing the procedures to receive UI, workers were consulted and introduced to jobs in localities in the province, most of whom wanted to find jobs near their hometown. In the job fairs held in the first quarter of 2024, there were more than 15,000 recruitment targets sent by enterprises, of which 545 were for intermediate level, the rest were for elementary level and unskilled labor.

After the first 4 months of the year, business orders were relatively stable, so recruitment needs occurred quite frequently, which is considered one of the positive signals for the labor market in 2024. At the same time, it is also a good opportunity for local workers and workers returning to their hometowns to have stable jobs to take care of their lives without having to go far away like before.
