On October 24, in Da Nang city, the Export Support Center - Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) organized a training program to provide consulting and support in packaging and label design in building product brands for export enterprises in the Central Highlands - Central region.

At the program, experts and speakers on packaging and label design supported export enterprises in the Central Highlands to better understand the role of design in marketing and product consumption; provided direct consulting support on brand design, product packaging and product display when participating in fairs and exhibitions; provided information on the working process with designers (including market research and similar products, printing technology in packaging production; working process with designers to achieve efficiency).
Regarding the role of product packaging design in exporting goods, MSc. Ngo Ngoc Ha - Lecturer of Graphic Design, Hanoi Open University, design consultant said that if in the past, products had the concept of "good wood is better than good paint", now the packaging factor - the external form is increasingly playing an important role in deciding whether the product is chosen by consumers to put in the shopping cart or not.
“With the same product quality, the deciding factor for consumers to choose which product is based on the packaging,” said Ms. Ngo Ngoc Ha, adding that a successful packaging design must demonstrate the value of the product inside, the amount of information on the packaging will determine the ability to consume that product. Each package needs to provide enough information, be easy to see, focus on the product and be designed based on the tastes, customer segments, and specific markets.
In reality, good packaging will honor the product. If export enterprises focus on designing packaging specifically for each market, suitable for the culture, needs and tastes of the export market, they will sell more products at higher prices. “There are many products with good quality but have to sell at very low prices. One of the reasons is that enterprises still ignore the importance of product packaging design. Or there is still the idea that their business is still small or the brand is still new and they do not pay attention to product packaging design - a factor that can help products sell better at higher prices, increase recognition as well as brand value”, Master Ngo Ngoc Ha pointed out.
According to MSc. Ngo Ngoc Ha, an important factor is that product packaging, bags and product labels need to be designed to suit each customer, customer segment and specific market taste. In addition, each product packaging needs to be creative, "tell a story" and highlight the value of the product. "Product packaging also has the function of conveying and promoting the beauty and culture of the locality, region and country. Combining and promoting national cultural identity in advertising graphics and product packaging is essential," MSc. Ngo Ngoc Ha commented.
