This is an activity within the framework of the 2024 Formex Sweden Handicraft Fair taking place from August 27-29, 2024. The Vietnamese business delegation attending the fair is organized by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Attending the workshop were Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Thuy - Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden (concurrently in Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Latvia); Professor Prof. Claus - Lund University; Ms. Mimmi Bergström - Swedish International Industry Council; Mr. Rolf Bergman, Former Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam and officials from the Vietnamese diplomatic agency in Sweden.

On the Vietnamese side, there was Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as head of the delegation; Mr. Le Ba Ngoc - General Secretary, Vice President of Vietnam Handicraft Association and a number of Hanoi enterprises.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa said that Hanoi currently has 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts. Hanoi's craft village products have been exported to over 40 countries and territories around the world, including key products such as: Garment; ceramics; silk weaving, embroidery, rattan and bamboo weaving, lacquerware, mother-of-pearl inlay and fine art wooden products...
Participating in the Formex Sweden Handicraft Fair, Hanoi introduced over 500 quintessential products representing the capital's craft villages through 10 businesses representing the capital's craft villages to connect consumption to the Swedish, Northern European and European markets.
“Through this Workshop and Fair, Hanoi also hopes that Hanoi - Vietnam businesses will have access to professional knowledge on international branding, product promotion methods, and current trends in designing handicrafts and gifts in the world. Through this, we will connect with businesses and exhibitors in Sweden, Northern Europe and the European region,” said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa.
At the same time, the Hanoi business delegation also hopes to sign trade contracts for craft village products, handicrafts, and gift products from Hanoi - Vietnam to the markets of Sweden, Northern Europe and the European region.
Within the framework of the Workshop, a signing ceremony was held between the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Hanoi Business Delegation and Lund University (Sweden) on the 2025 Design Cooperation Program. The signing ceremony was held to detail the cooperation program in 2025 on designing handicraft products to meet export needs to the European market. At the same time, the leaders of Lund University (Sweden) and European businesses were invited to participate in the International Craft Village Conservation and Development Festival organized by Hanoi City in 2025.
