
The General Statistics Office has just announced the results of a survey on business trends of enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry in the first quarter of 2025.
Specifically, 24.1% of enterprises assessed that the production and business situation was better than in the fourth quarter of 2024. 47.1% of enterprises said that the production and business situation was stable and 28.8% of enterprises assessed that they encountered difficulties.
It is expected that in the second quarter of 2025, 45.8% of businesses will assess that the trend will improve compared to the first quarter. 39.2% of businesses believe that the production and business situation will be stable and 15% of businesses predict more difficulties.
Of which, the FDI enterprise sector is the most optimistic with 87% of enterprises forecasting that the production and business situation in the second quarter will be better and remain stable compared to the first quarter. This rate in the State-owned enterprise sector and the non-State enterprise sector is 84.7% and 84.1% respectively.
Regarding production volume, 25.2% of enterprises assessed that their production volume in the first quarter increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. 44.1% of enterprises said it was stable and 30.7% of enterprises assessed that production volume decreased. In the second quarter compared to the first quarter, 45.1% of enterprises predicted an increase in production volume; 40.9% of enterprises predicted stability and 14% of enterprises predicted a decrease.
Regarding orders, 23.3% of enterprises had a higher number of new orders in the first quarter than in the fourth quarter of 2024; 47.4% of enterprises had a stable number of new orders and 29.3% of enterprises had a decrease in orders.
Regarding the trend in the second quarter compared to the first quarter, 43.3% of enterprises expected the number of new orders to increase; 42.8% of enterprises expected the number to be stable and 13.9% of enterprises expected a decrease.
Regarding export orders in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, 20.6% of enterprises confirmed that the number of new export orders was higher. 53.2% of enterprises had stable new export orders and 26.2% of enterprises had decreased new export orders.
Regarding the trend in the second quarter, 37.8% of enterprises expect an increase in the number of new export orders; 48.9% of enterprises expect stability and 13.3% of enterprises expect a decrease.
