Within the framework of the event Techconnect & Innovation Vietnam 2023, the workshop "Digital transformation and green transformation for sustainable development" was held in Quang Ninh province.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said that digital transformation and green transformation are inevitable trends in the world. This trend is not only an opportunity but also a big challenge for the Vietnamese business community. Digital transformation is not simply the application of information technology, but the prerequisite is to change internal processes and work processes, aiming to improve efficiency and create new products and services. With green transformation, it is not only technology that is aimed at the environment; but also changing the production and business process, aiming to improve operational efficiency; while reducing emissions, aiming towards a green economy and a circular economy.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuoc, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Science and Technology Associations, digital transformation and green transformation are the optimal combination in the context of the world facing many environmental and climate change issues. Green transformation activities include energy transition, green industrial transformation, sustainable agriculture and circular economy. Green industrial transformation can help the planning industry move in a synchronous and modern direction, attract foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises; participate in the global production value chain, create jobs, develop the economy; develop urban areas; promote industry and regional linkages; and expand diplomatic relations.
Professor Nguyen Van Phuoc commented that the circular economy has been implemented by many businesses. Businesses have come up with many production strategies, taking advantage of natural energy sources and reusing waste. Businesses are the pioneers in the energy transition, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and playing a key role in successfully implementing the commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, so there needs to be a support mechanism to promote it.

Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Diep, Green Building Program Manager in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia and Thailand of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) said that IFC has supported many projects, including lending 76 billion USD for green buildings. In Vietnam, last year, IFC lent 300 million USD, helping Vietnam expand the green building market with more diverse buildings from warehouses, factories, schools, hospitals to commercial buildings, even housing for low-income people can be assessed as green and receive preferential loans. Green transformation businesses are receiving great support and have many opportunities, so businesses that dare to take the lead in green transformation will benefit the most.
