At Co.opmart Ha Tinh supermarket, starting from April, the supermarket recorded an increase in the number of customers coming to shop compared to February and March. This is a positive sign for business activities after a period of market stagnation due to reduced consumer demand.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu - marketing manager, Co.opmart Ha Tinh supermarket said: "After Tet, the market slowed down due to reduced shopping demand. From the beginning of April, the number of customers began to stabilize, especially in the evening. The items that consumers buy the most are mainly fresh food, packaged food, household items, cosmetics, etc. We are expecting that in the summer, especially the upcoming April 30 holiday, purchasing power will be better."
Many shopping locations in the area have also recorded a gradual improvement in consumption, especially during the recent Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday. According to retailers and small traders, shopping activities in the month after Tet were quiet due to low consumer demand. From the second half of March onwards, purchasing power has "slightly" improved but is still not really vibrant due to the lack of factors creating a strong change.

Promotional activities are implemented by retailers to attract customers to shop.
According to data from the Department of Industry and Trade, total retail sales of goods in March 2025 reached more than 6,064 billion VND, an increase of 1.53% over the previous month. In particular, some groups of goods had high revenue and growth such as: food (reaching 3,155 billion VND); garments (reaching 375 billion VND); household appliances (reaching 845 billion VND); wood and construction materials (reaching 224 billion VND); gasoline of all kinds (reaching 500 billion VND) ...
According to traders, according to the market rhythm, from April to about July every year, the retail industry is expected to improve when the weather turns to the hot season, service and tourism activities enter the bustling season. In particular, the upcoming 5-day holiday on April 30 will be a "golden" opportunity to increase revenue for retailers when people shop and have fun during the holidays. At the same time, the increase in food and beverage services and tourism accommodation is also a factor creating momentum for retail activities.

One of the groups of goods that are predicted to be “in demand” when the weather changes and tourism activities are bustling is fashion. “Strengthening” the market to serve customers, fashion shops have imported many items in high demand in the summer such as: sun protection shirts, shirts, T-shirts, home wear, dresses, travel accessories… with diverse designs, suitable for new trends.
Ms. Luu Thi Nga - an employee of She fashion shop (Xuan Dieu street, Ha Tinh city) shared: "In addition to the change in weather, summer is the time when tourism activities are promoted, so people's demand for shopping for going out and traveling increases. This also makes the fashion market more vibrant . In the past 2 weeks, the store has imported many summer fashion products and regularly posted designs on Facebook for customers to view and choose to buy. The main summer fashion products have bright colors, soft and smooth materials such as cotton, elastic, linen, silk... Some dresses and clothing sets chosen by customers for going out or traveling have more elegant and eye-catching designs.

In particular, as summer approaches, the weather is hot and the demand for purchasing “cooling” equipment will increase. Seizing this opportunity, supermarket and electronics stores have proactively sourced goods and planned their business to boost product consumption, increase sales and profits.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh - manager of Hong Ha Shopping Center (Tran Phu Street, Ha Tinh City) said: "Welcoming" the hot season this year, the center has proactively imported a large source of goods to serve the market with seasonal products such as air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers... According to preliminary forecasts, this year's market is likely to be better, so the unit has prepared more goods. For air conditioners alone, the total value of goods is nearly 20 billion VND, 1.5 times higher than last year. Currently, products with many designs and prices have been displayed for customers to refer to and learn. At present, the number of customers has begun to increase gradually, in recent days we have installed an average of about 10 air conditioners/day.

In order to stimulate consumption, many retailers have implemented promotional activities to attract customers. At Co.opmart, Winmart, Winmart+ supermarkets; electronics stores such as Dien May Xanh, Mediamart, FPTshop; Savani, Yody fashion systems, etc., summer and holiday promotion programs are continuously implemented with attractive incentives.
Ms. Mai Phuong (Ha Huy Tap Ward, Ha Tinh City) shared: “Every year when summer comes, I have to spend more money to buy new clothes and necessary items for my family. In addition, I often take my children to the supermarket, shopping and playing during the summer, so my expenses also increase. To save more when buying large-value items, I have the habit of following promotional programs, especially during holidays to buy at good prices.”
This year, the province's total retail sales target is expected to reach VND80,615 billion, an increase of about 15% compared to 2024. According to industry experts' forecasts, in addition to seasonal and weather factors, retail activities will continue to maintain strong growth momentum thanks to the stability of the economy and the development of e-commerce.
To increase retail sales and promote the commercial sector, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to Implement solutions to stimulate consumption; support businesses in applying technology to management and business, promote e-commerce development; strengthen supply-demand connection, trade connection, consumption of the province's products; develop commercial infrastructure, continue to call for investment in building trade centers, markets, etc.
