Madar Maritime Company, a branch of Algerian state-owned corporation Madar Holding, is calling for bids to buy 2,136 containers of various sizes, a great opportunity for Vietnamese container suppliers.

Vietnamese enterprises have the opportunity to participate in bidding to supply containers to the Algerian market.

The Vietnamese Trade Office in Algeria said that a Vietnamese company is looking to buy more than 2,000 containers. This purchase is part of Algeria's plan to expand its scale, enhance its logistics capacity and modernize its fleet.

The company calling for tenders is Madar Maritime Company, a subsidiary of the Algerian state corporation, established in August 2024 with an initial capital of about 30 million USD . The company specializes in maritime transport and logistics, and is aiming to expand its fleet.

Accordingly, Madar Maritime Company is calling for bids for a total of 2,136 containers of various sizes. The batch of containers includes 1,036 standard TEU containers, 20 feet long; 900 FEU high cube containers with a capacity of 40 feet equipped with a refrigeration system; 100 standard TEU refrigerated containers; 100 FEU high cube refrigerated containers to transport products requiring strict temperature control.

"Interested businesses need to register on the company's official website ( www.madar-maritime.com ). After being legalized, businesses will receive a link allowing them to download the technical documents. The deadline for submitting offers is April 27, 2025," according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Algeria.

Demand for containers is increasing in many countries. In Vietnam, Hoa Phat Group has entered the container shell manufacturing market since 2021, with the advantage of steel raw materials accounting for up to 60% of production costs.

The main raw material for the production of empty containers is HRC steel, special SPA-H grade, weather resistant, a product of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex. This is a great advantage of Hoa Phat in investing in the production of containers.

Hoa Phat's container factory is located in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, with a total capacity of 500,000 TEU/year, specializing in 20-foot and 40-foot general cargo containers. Phase 1 with a capacity of 200,000 TEU/year has been completed and put into operation. With this capacity, Hoa Phat is the largest container shell manufacturer in Vietnam as well as in Southeast Asia.

In August 2023, Hoa Phat Container Manufacturing Joint Stock Company handed over the first batch of 100 20-foot containers from the factory in Vung Tau to New Way Lines Company Limited.

Last year, Hapag-Lloyd (Germany), one of the world's largest shipping lines, also came to Vietnam to order 2,000 20DC containers from Hoa Phat Container Manufacturing Joint Stock Company. The shipment was designed according to the shipping line's standards, with advanced features and reinforced chassis to transport heavy cargo, meeting the requirements of the maritime transport market. Each container is inspected by inspectors appointed by Hapag-Lloyd and a recognized classification society.
