The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has announced the official results of the Vietnamese national team competing in the 2024 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) held in Iran. The Vietnamese national team consists of 5 students. As a result, 5/5 students won medals, including: 2 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals.

Specifically as follows:
2 Gold Medals went to Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung, both 12th grade students at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted (Bac Giang).
The 3 Silver Medals were awarded to Nguyen Nhat Minh, a 12th grader from the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi); Ha Duyen Phuc, a 12th grader from Lam Son High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hoa province); Nguyen Thanh Duy, a 12th grader from Tran Phu High School for the Gifted (Hai Phong).
It is known that the 54th International Physics Olympiad was held in Iran from July 21 to July 29.
According to the regulations of the IPhO Council 2024, the exam consists of 1 theoretical exam and 1 practical exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours. This year's exam is considered interesting and difficult, the content of the theoretical and practical exams are closely related to real life and touch on the applications of modern science and technology. To achieve the Gold Medal, candidates must be in the top 8% of candidates with the highest scores.
With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad. This year's results are also better than in 2023 (in 2023, the Vietnamese team won 2 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal). This year, the practical exam scores of Vietnamese students have improved significantly compared to the AphO and IPhO exams in recent years.
The IPhO 2024 Organizing Committee will hold the closing ceremony and award ceremony on July 28, starting at 9:00 (Iran time).
