* Up to now, the Vietnamese sports delegation has won 6 medals, including 1 silver medal and 5 bronze medals. With this achievement, Vietnam ranks 19th on the overall medal table of ASIAD 19.
However, the number of medals won by the Vietnamese sports delegation will likely change on the competition day of September 27 when entering many strong sports.
Yesterday, martial artist Hua Van Doan defeated his Korean opponent Hong Minjun 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the men's 56kg wushu category. This means that Van Doan will surely win a medal at the 19th ASIAD.
On the 19th ASIAD medal tally, the Chinese sports delegation firmly held the number 1 position with 53 gold medals, 29 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
On the competition day of September 26, the host country's sports delegation won 14 more gold medals.
The Korean sports delegation still ranked second with 14 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the Japanese sports delegation also won 3 more gold medals to consolidate its 3rd place with 8 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.
The Indonesian sports delegation also competed successfully to raise their achievements to 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 5 bronze medals, ranking 7th in the overall medal tally of the 19th ASIAD.
The Thai sports delegation also won 2 gold medals and 5 bronze medals, to rank 9th.
* On September 27, the Vietnamese sports delegation will compete in 7 sports at the 19th ASIAD including shooting, table tennis, swimming, chess, e-sports, taekwondo and wushu.
On today's competition day, 2014 ASIAD champion Duong Thuy Vi will compete in the women's swordplay at 9:40 and the women's spearplay at 15:35.
Duong Thuy Vi is the hope that can help Vietnamese sports change the medal color at ASIAD 19.
In chess, player Le Tuan Minh will compete in two decisive games in the rapid chess event.
Le Tuan Minh is currently ranked second with 5 points/7 games, 0.5 points behind leader Wei Yi (China).
If he beats the number 1 seed Yi Wei (China) in game 8, Tuan Minh will have a good chance to compete for the Gold Medal.
