On June 19, 1968, the Technical Reconnaissance Team under the Security Department, General Department of Politics was established to meet the requirements of the task of protecting the security of the Army during the resistance war against the US. On December 10, 1988, the Technical Reconnaissance Team changed its name to the Technical Reconnaissance Group according to the decision of the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Delegates attended the ceremony to receive the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal and celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Technical Reconnaissance Group's tradition.

Through the process of fighting and growing up, the officers, employees and soldiers of the Technical Reconnaissance Group have upheld their responsibility, determined to overcome all difficulties and hardships, and strived to excellently complete all assigned tasks.

In the past time, the Technical Reconnaissance Team has synchronously deployed professional measures, conducted tens of thousands of technical reconnaissance requests, collected and processed thousands of pages of documents, compiled reports for higher levels to study and assess the situation to promptly direct agencies and units to fight, prevent, and combat the enemy from planting, connecting, spreading fabricated information, and distorting the guidelines and policies of the Party, State, and Army. Using technical measures, the unit has conducted security and safety checks on tens of thousands of information technology equipment and military equipment to detect signs of insecurity, safety, spyware programs, and server system vulnerabilities to promptly prevent, handle, and overcome.

The unit also proactively coordinated with the authorities to detect, investigate, and collect thousands of leaked and leaked documents of different levels of confidentiality, promptly reporting and proposing measures to prevent and protect military and national secrets. At the same time, it participated in implementing thousands of requests to ensure security and safety for the activities of Party and State leaders, international delegations visiting and working with the Ministry of National Defense, and important political events of the State and the Army.
