The departure ceremony of the Vietnam Sports Delegation for the Disabled before leaving for each regional, continental and world sports event has become a beautiful traditional ritual with many meanings. Through that, it aims to encourage the spirit of the athletes determined to compete for the highest results to bring glory to the Fatherland.
At the launch ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong sent wishes of health, luck and success to the officers, coaches and athletes of the Vietnam Sports Delegation for the Disabled. The Deputy Minister praised and highly appreciated the efforts of the delegation in the past time to actively practice and prepare best to attend the Congress.

“The Asian Games for the Disabled is a very fierce competition, gathering the top disabled athletes of the continent and the world. Therefore, I hope that all officials, coaches and athletes of the delegation are fully aware of their responsibilities as well as the honor and pride that the Fatherland has entrusted to them, and strive to fulfill their tasks well at the Games,” said Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong.
According to the Deputy Minister, at international sports congresses and tournaments, we have witnessed shining examples of extraordinary will and determination of Vietnamese disabled athletes. They have achieved outstanding results, contributing to bringing glory and pride to the country. "The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation participating in the Asian Para Games this time will also strive to achieve the best results, create opportunities for exchange and learning, and more importantly, introduce the image of the country and the strong and determined Vietnamese people to international friends," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
The 4th Asian Para Games taking place in Hangzhou (China) from October 16 to 29, 2023 is the largest sporting event in the continent, taking place every 4 years. To prepare for this important event, on September 18, 2023, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed Decision No. 2717 on the establishment of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation to attend the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China with 71 members, including 48 athletes (including 1 runner), competing in 7 sports, including: 10 athletes in athletics; 9 athletes in swimming; 4 athletes in weightlifting; 12 athletes in chess; 6 athletes in table tennis; 5 athletes in badminton; 1 athlete in taekwondo. Strive to win 3 to 4 gold medals, achieving the goal of having many athletes pass the qualifying round and meet the standards to participate in the Paralympics-Paris 2024.

After a period of active, serious and responsible preparation, the staff, coaches and athletes of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation are confident and ready to attend the Games. Reporting on the preparations of the delegation, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Head of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation informed: Immediately after the end of the 12th Asian Para Games held in Cambodia, the sports sector continued to review, evaluate and supplement the force of athletes and coaches training at national sports training centers. At the same time, selecting and dividing groups of sports to focus on investment, sending excellent athletes to compete abroad to improve their professional qualifications, accumulate experience and competition psychology of athletes before the Games. In addition, care - recovery, injury treatment, nutrition and many other support activities have created an exciting atmosphere in training and competition, reducing pressure on athletes' performance.
