Following the direction of the Minister of National Defense, at noon on April 7, in the capital Naypyidaw, the Vietnam People's Army delegation presented rescue equipment, military medical supplies, logistics, and food to Myanmar to help the neighboring country continue to overcome the consequences of the earthquake.

In addition, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense decided to provide additional food and tents, which are expected to be delivered to Myanmar as soon as possible.

The two sides discussed the results of coordination in implementing rescue work after the earthquake.

Before the two sides signed the handover minutes of the above equipment and supplies, Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue and Relief (General Staff), Head of the Vietnam People's Army delegation participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar, emphasized that this was the sentiment and sharing of the Vietnam People's Army for the country and people of Myanmar; at the same time, he said that in the process of supporting the overcoming of the consequences of the earthquake in the capital Naypyidaw, the Vietnam People's Army delegation effectively coordinated with the Myanmar rescue force, with the common goal of helping local people minimize and alleviate pain and loss.

“We would like to send you our best wishes and hope that you will soon overcome the earthquake disaster and build a developed Myanmar,” Major General Pham Van Ty emphasized.

Major General Pham Van Ty and Major General U Myat Thu signed the minutes of handover of equipment, supplies and food.

Major General U Myat Thu, Director of the Fire, Rescue and Relief Department (Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs) expressed his deep gratitude for the sentiments and timely and valuable support of the Vietnam People's Army delegation.

He also highly appreciated the capacity and discipline of the Vietnam People's Army rescue force in performing their duties and expressed his wish to learn more about Vietnam's experiences in responding to disasters and in rescue.

“We, like many Myanmar people, will never forget the image of the rescue force of the Vietnam People's Army in the past few days,” Major General U Myat Thu affirmed.

The two sides took a photo together at the handover ceremony.

Earlier, right after arriving in the capital Naypyidaw, the Vietnam People's Army delegation presented 40 tons of dry food to the Myanmar side; members of the delegation donated 5,000 USD to support families affected by the earthquake.
