Delegation of visitors "break ground" in Hoi An, Binh Dinh to welcome the new year 2025

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of January 1, a group of 18 tourists from Italy "broke ground" in Hoi An ancient town, Quang Nam, to welcome the new year 2025. Binh Dinh also held a ceremony to welcome the first tourists.

On New Year's Day, leaders of Quang Nam province and Hoi An city's tourism industry held a warm welcome ceremony to welcome a group of Italian guests to visit Hoi An ancient town.

Ms. Elisabetta Casiraghi, 54 years old, a tourist from Italy, said that this was her first time setting foot in Hoi An ancient town, a place famous for its ancient and charming beauty.

"We were really touched by the warm and cozy welcome on New Year's Day. Hoi An people are very friendly and enthusiastic. This will be my most memorable trip," said Ms. Casiraghi.

After the welcoming ceremony, the delegation will have the opportunity to visit Hoi An ancient town, famous for its many ancient architectural works preserved over time, and participate in cultural and artistic activities, as well as demonstrations of traditional local crafts.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, said that last year Hoi An received 4 major awards and 10 prestigious titles from international organizations, including recognition from UNESCO. This is the result of the continuous efforts and contributions of friends near and far.

2024 witnessed a strong recovery of tourism in Quang Nam province with 8 million visitors, of which Hoi An welcomed 4.5 million, including 3.5 million international visitors. The European tourist market, especially from Italy, England, and France, are considered potential markets for Hoi An and Quang Nam.

Hoi An is famous as an international tourist destination thanks to its long history and the harmonious combination of Eastern and Western cultures. The city hopes that welcoming the first group of visitors in 2025 will be a symbol of the warm welcome and hospitality of the local people, opening a vibrant tourism year.

Meanwhile, on January 1, Vietnam Airlines flight VN1392 landed at Quy Nhon airport, Binh Dinh, carrying 180 passengers, including 8 international tourists. This was the first flight to Binh Dinh in the new year, marking a promising start for the local tourism industry.

Binh Dinh Department of Tourism held a warm welcome ceremony, presented flowers and souvenirs to lucky tourists randomly selected on the flight.

Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Director of Binh Dinh Province Department of Tourism, said that this is an annual activity to demonstrate the friendliness and hospitality of local people.

On the first day of the new year, Binh Dinh is expected to welcome a total of 14 flights. In particular, on January 4, the Department of Tourism will hold a ceremony to welcome the first international cruise ship to Quy Nhon, opening a promising new year for the tourism industry.

Mr. Thanh also revealed that on the first day of the Lunar New Year, Binh Dinh will welcome its first train, a new trend that many tourists are choosing. The 2025 New Year Countdown program attracted nearly 100,000 visitors, a great success for the local tourism industry.

In 2024, Binh Dinh welcomed 9.2 million visitors, an increase of 83.9% over the previous year, with tourism revenue reaching VND 25,500 billion.

In 2025, the province aims to welcome 10 million visitors and achieve revenue of VND 26,000 billion, continuing to affirm the position of "sea paradise" Quy Nhon on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world.
