Doan Hung worked all night building dikes to prevent flooding.

In recent days, due to the influence of the circulation of typhoon No. 3, heavy rain in the province, combined with the Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant opening all 8 bottom sluice gates, has caused the water level on the Lo River to rise, resulting in flooding in many areas.

Authorities and local people participate in building dikes to prevent flooding in Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province.

On the night of September 10th, approximately 10 meters of the Lo River dike broke in Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province – an area bordering Hop Nhat commune, Doan Hung district.

Comrade Nguyen Van Van, Chairman of the People's Committee of Doan Hung District, said: Immediately after the incident occurred, hundreds of people and functional forces from both localities urgently moved bags of soil to the dike breach site. Many trucks carrying stones and excavators were also mobilized to the scene to respond to the incident. In particular, Doan Hung District mobilized approximately 200-300 police, military, and local forces, along with excavators and trucks, to assist in relocating people and property from 20 households in the Ho Xanh area and to participate in dike construction to prevent flooding.

Hop Nhat is a riverside commune, formed by the merger of three communes: Phu Thu, Huu Do, and Dai Nghia, and is therefore directly affected by floods from the Lo River. On the afternoon of September 10th, 42 households in Hop Nhat commune were evacuated, including 36 households in Van Tap village and 7 households in the Song Lo and Thong Nhat areas. Because the evacuation of residents in areas at risk was carried out early, there were no casualties.

However, due to the continuing complex situation of heavy rain and rising water levels, residents and authorities are constantly on standby, promptly reinforcing dikes in high-risk areas to prevent further breaches.

At 10 PM on September 10th, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Doan Hung District issued alert number 3 to the communes of Phu Lam, Hung Xuyen, Van Du, Chi Dam, Hop Nhat, Doan Hung town, Soc Dang, Hung Long, Vu Quang, and the Doan Hung Irrigation Enterprise, requesting the deployment of forces, materials, and equipment, increased patrols and surveillance, detection of any damage to dikes, embankments, and culverts, and timely remedial measures. Simultaneously, all situations were to be reported to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the district for timely handling in case of any incidents.
