On the afternoon of November 21, the Standing Supervisory Delegation of the Provincial People's Council worked with the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of legal regulations in ensuring inland waterway traffic safety and the management, inspection and registration of inland waterway vehicles in the province. Attending the meeting were comrades: Vu Van Dien, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

The province currently has more than 840 km of inland waterways, 38 routes, 141 ports, cargo terminals and specialized ports with 1,810 diverse and various types of vehicles operating on the routes in the province. In recent times, although the functional sectors of the province have coordinated to implement many practical solutions to enhance the safety of inland waterway traffic, up to now, the management of ports, routes and routes has not been strict, the management of inspection and registration of inland waterway vehicles has not received due attention, the traffic order and safety situation on Quang Ninh waterways still has many potential complex risks.

At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Transport, the Provincial Police and localities explained and supplemented some contents of the summary report of the monitoring team. The shortcomings and limitations in ensuring inland waterway traffic safety and the management, inspection and registration of inland waterway vehicles have been and are being overcome.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, agreed with the results of the monitoring report of the Standing Monitoring Team of the Provincial People's Council. He requested relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities to report and clarify the contents in documents and documents sent to the Standing Monitoring Team of the Provincial People's Council. At the same time, continue to strengthen the management of ports and wharves, implement measures to dredge the channels to ports and wharves, evaluate the overall effectiveness of storm shelter anchorages in the province and spontaneous anchorages of the people, strengthen the management of registration and inspection of inland waterway vehicles.

Concluding the working session, Comrade Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, proposed that the Provincial People's Committee should strengthen the management of routes, ports and wharves, including re-evaluating the decentralization of port and wharf management; strengthening inspection, examination and strict handling of violations, resolutely suspending and stopping operations of ports, wharves and waterway vehicles that do not meet operating conditions; re-evaluating the effectiveness of decentralization of inspection and registration of inland waterway vehicles; and strengthening measures to ensure safety of inland waterway traffic.
