In 2023, the cooperative relationship between the two provinces continues to be maintained and developed in all fields. Political relations are strengthened, leaders of the two provinces, departments, branches and localities of the two sides have successfully organized 74 delegations to visit, work, exchange experiences, and implement the contents of cooperation agreements. Economic cooperation continues to develop, two-way trade turnover continuously increases, the total import and export turnover of Thanh Hoa province to Laos in 2023 reaches over 50 million USD, an increase of nearly 14% compared to 2022.
Cooperation in the fields of education, training and health care has been maintained; currently, in Thanh Hoa province, there are 221 Lao students studying at universities and colleges in the province; in 2023, the province received and trained 46 students who are leaders and managers at the department level of Hua Phan province in intermediate political theory; Thanh Hoa province's hospitals have supported medical examination and treatment for more than 1,300 cadres and people of Hua Phan province.
The armed forces of the two provinces have actively coordinated in national defense - security and border management, firmly ensuring political security and social order and safety in the border areas of each locality. In addition, within its own conditions, Thanh Hoa province has paid attention to allocating a part of its resources to aid Hua Phan province in investing in the construction of a number of infrastructure projects, contributing to accelerating the socio-economic development of the province.
